3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Notched on the side, this one reads "June." I was told that’s a best by date.
This was poured into a mug.
The appearance was a dark brown color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than a minute. Light messy lacing roamed around the glass.
The smell had a superb blend of rich nutty malts with a light roasty smooth chocolate and ample coffee roaming in and out.
The taste copied the aroma nicely to work over a gentle sweet rolling and roasty smooth, slightly smokey and light amount of cocoa. A lingering roasty smooth coffee/cocoa aftertaste leads to a balanced dry to wet finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a really nice sessionability to it. The carbonation rolled over nicely with a delicate sharpness.
Overall, this was a really nice English Brown ale, definitely again.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tried on tap. I enjoyed the mahogany brown and dark colored amber richness. The aroma is somewhat well incorporated. I get dark malts when I am preparing to feed the gulls. I wonder if it will be enough.

On tap at the brewpub. The pour is mahogany brown to darker amber. The nose has a variety of niceties going on. Dark malts, molasses, nutty, molasses, and basically sweet. The body is medium in texture but boy did I enjoy the smooth undertone. The taste is also sweet and nutty at first with a good lingering bitterness at the end. This is one of their standard brews that they bottle and sell locally in Western, Mass (USA).

22oz bottles from the brewery. Pours mahogony brown with an off white head. Sweet and malty but with just enough hop bitterness to even it out. Caramel, butter and nutty flavors. One of my favorites from this brewery.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Deep ruby brown w/ thin tan head; toasty malt aroma w/ same flavor w/ touch of chocolate, but feels a bit light and acidic; finish is a bit weak, but overall a good beer.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle shared with Sander at his place, NYC. Pours clear brown with a modest, tan foam head. Aroma has some ashy, lightly toasted malts just tinged with sourness. The flavor, though, is quite sour, and I can’t imagine it’s intentional. Some light toast and cocoa, but mostly sour malts. Light bodied with average carbonation. Sour finish, faint dry roast and leaves, some tart fruit hints. Hard to enjoy this.

22oz bottle, thanks chriso. Large tan head atop dark brown body. Aroma is moderately sweet, chocolate, some nut, caramel. Taste is moderately sweet, sour cherry -- clearly infected. Smooth light-medium body.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark Mahogany pour with a slim light beige head. aroma is sticky caramel and toffee malt, light coffee bean, immense nuttiness and a flutter of candied hazelnut. Flavor is lightly bitter, extremely light roastiness, lots of nuttiness, plenty of toffee malts, adding a nice sweet element. Good depth of malt, tasty, not overly inventive but very drinkable and satisfying.

Another draft pour at the Egremont Inn in Great Barrington, MA this came a hazy brown with a light tan head and light lacing. Nose of caramel malts and nuts, and some light chocolate. Medium mouthfeel. Flavor is malty with some hints of fruit. Finish is dry and lightly bitter. Decent brown.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
22 oz bottle from the brewery. Pours a mostly translucent brown with a bunch of amber notes and a small to medium creamy and bubbly off white head that left some lacing. Aroma of caramel, nuts, very light buttery notes and some chocolate. Flavor of...interestly enough...sour cherries. While I think there may be something a litlte off here...the sour cherry flavor which I assume the brewer was not going for actually worked out ok. Under that initial sour cherry flavor I got some nuts, light caramel and grainy malts. This one is hard to put numbers to...but I’m gonna have to keep style in mind on this one because I think an infection set in and the brewery most likely did not intend for it to turn out this way.
