Dark Mahogany pour with a slim light beige head. aroma is sticky caramel and toffee malt, light coffee bean, immense nuttiness and a flutter of candied hazelnut. Flavor is lightly bitter, extremely light roastiness, lots of nuttiness, plenty of toffee malts, adding a nice sweet element. Good depth of malt, tasty, not overly inventive but very drinkable and satisfying.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear cola brown with ruby highlights and a thin beige head. Crisp nutty malt, toast, roast, caramel. Malty, roast, toast, more caramel. Nice touch of roast on the finish. Pretty good.

Another draft pour at the Egremont Inn in Great Barrington, MA this came a hazy brown with a light tan head and light lacing. Nose of caramel malts and nuts, and some light chocolate. Medium mouthfeel. Flavor is malty with some hints of fruit. Finish is dry and lightly bitter. Decent brown.

22 oz bottle from the brewery. Pours a mostly translucent brown with a bunch of amber notes and a small to medium creamy and bubbly off white head that left some lacing. Aroma of caramel, nuts, very light buttery notes and some chocolate. Flavor of...interestly enough...sour cherries. While I think there may be something a litlte off here...the sour cherry flavor which I assume the brewer was not going for actually worked out ok. Under that initial sour cherry flavor I got some nuts, light caramel and grainy malts. This one is hard to put numbers to...but I’m gonna have to keep style in mind on this one because I think an infection set in and the brewery most likely did not intend for it to turn out this way.

22 oz bottle; purchase by September. Clear burgundy brown with a beige coating. Nose is woody grape, mild dark roast and fudge. Medium body with a sharp, sour tang. Taste is crabapple, cider vinegar and mold with hints of cherry. Dusty dry finish with tobacco and ash. I don’t think this is supposed to be a sour ale but as such it’s not horrible. The aftertaste gets funky after a while. One glass is enough.

Poureed aclear golden brown color with a small off-white head. Light caramel malt aroma with some earthy notes and a hint of cocoa. The flavor was malty with notes of dark cocoa and cola. The body was on the light side.

Bottle shared by goldtwins. Deep dark brown beer. Aroma is quite sweet and malty with a nice rich nutty component. Lightly fruity over a nice sweet malty base. Soft chewy character on the back. It’s slightly sweet but quite nice nonetheless.

Growler; samples at the brewpub: Pours brown with a thin tan head. Smells of nuts, lots of spice, caramel, molasses, touches of burnt malt. Tastes sweet and rich with a nice spicy character. The malt profile yields some nice biscuits, caramel and touches of nuttiness. It is very hard to make a good brown ale that has a palate and profile as rich as this one. One of the best browns I’ve had to date.

Pours a dark brown color with a thin light brown head. Good aroma and flavor of nuts, burnt caramel and malt. The body is light to medium with a creamy texture and gentle carbonation.

Very smooth drinking. Aroma is cold mocha and herbal/grassy. Initial swig is a bit acidic, but then it buffers out. Choco-chalky, lightly sweet, lightly-to-moderate bittering. My guess is American hops. Borderline porter. Thanks to DW.
