Cask, handpump at the brewpub, The Exeter Arms, Barrowden, Rutland, whilst cycling in this Rutland Water area 14.05.11 Pours dark gold with good clarity and with a white rim of bubbles. Big dollop of ’Burton Snatch’ on the nose. Soft bitterness in the mouth, some tangy fruit, bit of appleskin. Nice beer and great improvement on the ’Hopgear’ and the ’Owngear’ A6 A4 T7 P3 Ov13 3.3

As ’Barrowden Beech’, The Exeter Arms, Barrowden, but presumably the same recipe. Pale and yellowy. Brasher hop bite than the Hop Gear, but less aromatic. Some malt nuttiness and grainy wood notes. Flattish with vanilla afters, and a dry finish. Too much shampoo.
