(Cask@Gallows, Espoo) Very dark brown with a tiny, beige head. Sourish-malty aroma with some roastiness. Dark fruit, sourish malt and sweetish licorice in the flavor, and hints of alcohol. Medium body with very low, soft carbonation. Nice flavor, but hardly any aroma.

Cask at the Cambridge Beer Festival. A dark, treacly stout with a rich smokey chocolate aroma and a dry, peppery chocolate flavour leading to a satisfying dry finish with just a hint of alcohol. Excellent.

8th August 2008. On tap at GBBF. Light on it’s feet for a strong stout. Well balanced subtle fruit and chocolate. Some banana at the end. No realy dryness or bitterness. Unusual stout.

Bottled. A hazy deep red beer with a thick brown head. The aroma has notes of alcohol and hops. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of alcohol and roasted malt, leading to a dry spicy finish.

Bottle shared by Lukin. Great name on this one. Lots of soy, salty, oyster shell aroma, roast coffee and slightly sour. So very British in style. Tart, green apple flavor, mildly roasty but otherwise uncomplex. Nice body. Interesting beer.

Cask (Gallows Bird, Espoo, Real Ale Festival 2009)
Day 0: 8-5-8-3-15=3.9
Bacon-bits aroma - wow! Full smooth burnt and roasty palate. In the mouth it’s both burnt and with plenty of retronasal fruity esters. Finish is very burnt, verging on ashy, but it’s also pretty roasty after swallowing, so not unbalanced. Some coffee in aroma later. Dry.
Day 2: 7-5-8-4-15=3.9
No more bacon aroma. However, there’s more pear and banana in the body. Much sweeter feel, less ashy palate - lovely!
