3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Super hazy deep amber and copper coloured body with bronze and almost brown coloured highlights, all with a ridiculously large soapy and frothy deep tan head. Aroma of alcohol, metal, malt, pungent hops and a bit of caramel. Medium-bodied; Rich malty flavour with a ton of hop flavours and even more alcohol and depth - pungent and strong with a large presence of hops throughout. Aftertaste shows a good balance of very fresh hops and malt with a long-lasting sweetness, hints of metal and a bit of sugars. Overall, a very nice beer with tons of flavour and depth, all in the great bottle that is - Base Camp beers. I sampled this 65 cL metal bottle purchased from Made in Oregon in Portland (PDX Terminal D) Oregon on 08-December-2013 for US$5,50 sampled at home in Washington on 21-November-2014.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Sampled on 9/15/2015. This Imperial Pilsner/Imperial Pale Lager pours a slightly cloudy amber brown color from a 22 oz bottle shaped aluminum can. Small sized white foamy head. The aroma is herbal fresh hops, lots of caramel malts and tropical. A medium to full bodied IPL. The malts are caramel and fruity, lots of tropical flavors. The hops are herbal and have that fresh hops herbal/earthy and ‘dank’ flavor. Decent carbonation. Good balance. Has a lot of malts sweetness that is balanced by the dank and herbal hops. Just not sure if I am a big fan of the fresh hops mix in this one, I keep getting some muddy instead of earthy. Now I have to see if I can figure out which Topo Map they used on the label… Mouthfeel is full and round Finish is clean and smooh. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark for the style, big piney and mLt driven aroma. Like the regular ipl, a little malty for my taste but still nice. Nice body and the hops are all pine and spice. Different but good."

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle: Orangish caramel in color, thick, moderate fluffy sandy head, nice lacing.   Not what I was expecting.   Doughy and citrusy on the nose.   Very "ale" like on the tongue.   Not much about this screams lager.   Smooth, citrusy, with a bit of sweetness, pale breadiness, some muted toffee and caramel.   This is pretty tasty, better than expected.   Clean finish, soft citrus bits and breadiness lingers.   Really, an IPL.   Good nonetheless.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Can/bottle from Malt & Vine. Pours dark copper with a creamy/foamy beige? head. Aroma is fruit and malt. Hop type fruit. Full bodied or nearly. Does thin as carb leaves. Flavor is sort of toasty/bready with a lot of hop that seems floral/fruit - dank even. Not really getting citrus or resin. There’s a sneaky hop burn with time. Mild, but burn. There’s a lot of hop in this. It is incredibly delicious. Clarence made a mistake with Malmsey. This would be the better choice.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This style, hoppy lagers, seems to be Base Camp’s strength. Pours a clear copper color with a large white head. A fruity nose, light honey sweet malts. The flavor is excellent: creamy, fresh fruity hops, deep resin, clean. SOme caramel. Excellent beer.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at the Wichita Pub in Clackamas, Oregon. Pours cloudy amber, quite a surprise for the style. Nose seems fruity, in a mild way. Not like any beer I’ve ever tasted, but certainly not bad, fresh tasting. Hides the alcohol well. If I can find this in the supermarket, I’ll bring a few back with me, I want my friends to try it. You can’t beat those metal bottles for taking beer home in your check-in luggage.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aluminum Adventure bomber, needs re-sealable cap to complete the package. Clear orange copper, healthy rocky off-white head settles and lasts, leaving some messy lacing. Floral piney malty aroma. Clean citric floral pine hop taste, backseat lager malts. Average carbonation, light bodied, moderately hopped. An enjoyable crossover, time to denote IPL as a style? MLF (More Lagerboy Friendly)
