Our flagship India Pale Lager showcases a copper color that gives way to a crisp, clean lager beer perfectly balanced in its massive complexity. Dry-hopped and aged on an in-house toasted blend of white and red oaks. The IPL finishes clean and smooth, with hop aromas of wild flowers and pine, and a unique maltiness highlighted by the subtle oak character.

Bottle from Fyne Ales’ brewery tap. Clear body with a thick off-white head. Steady carbonation. Light lacing. Aroma of lemon, orange zest and sweet malt. Flavour of bitter hops, grapefruit, white sugar and salted bread. Medium body with an oily texture. Soft fizz. They’ve been far too heavy-handed with the hops in this - it’s bitter and astringent. And it looks very dark for the style.

Boa drinkability.

Hazy deep amber beer!! Good cream colour head. Palate is smooth and a little soft, mild fine carbonation. Malty! Very malty! Little oxidised caramel and dark toffee. Mild marmalade and pine. Smooth malty finish. That oxidised tasting caramel lingers on. This is what now? Imperial Pils? India Pale Lager? Not very pale is it? An okay malt bomb.

I have to compare this with the Ultra Gnar Gnar - the IPL is enjoyable to drink, but can’t be that good. It misses the heavy body required for massive hops flavour.

Good beer might’ve been better but my metal bottle fell from the bottom shelf of my fridge to the floor, whereupon it leaked some. When I opened it, there was a pressure release, but the foam has the characteristic appearance of beer starting to go flat. Mouthfeel that way too. Still, good aroma and flavor, pretty much as the commercial description has it.

Bottle at home. Aroma of ripe fruits, orange, biscuit malt, caramel, pine resin, grapefruit, earthy hops. Flavour is moderate sweet with a moderate bittersweet finish. Body is medium to heavy. Pleasant beer, full and piney.
