22 oz aluminum bottle. Aroma is chocolaty, like chocolate milk. Pours inky black with a medium tan head with good retention. Taste is bittersweet and savory with flavors of chocolate, licorice and dark fruit. Not bad but in this sweet stout comparison, I like the Elysian Split Shot I had before this a little more.

Packaging, can, and design is sexy as hell. Beautiful color, excellent head and retention. Opened alongside my buddy Ryan's own s'more stout, which is clearly superior.
Smells like oxidation and a touch of mild roast. Tastes soapy with mild astringency before the malt backbone takes over. Not awful, not good.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Can/bottle from Malt & Vine. Pours dark brown/black with a dark tan head. Interesting fruity/chocolate aroma. Med body. First impact is confusing, then itís marshmallow, chocolate, smooth burnt stout, followed by dark milky chocolate with is followed by something like banana. Itís much more dry than sweet. But compared to somethings itís not very dry. Really good earthy bitter chocolate finish.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Very hop forward for a sweet stout. Did get lots of marshmellow at the finish but the hop took away from the caramel and chocolate. Closer to a black IPA.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
22 oz aluminum bottle from "Lifesource" in Salem.
Handsome looking beer here..black,pitch black body and a lovely thick and creamy tan head.
Aroma quite delicate, chocolate( milky) sweetness resembling marshmallow and toasted malts.
Taste is much the same as the aroma with the addition of strong brewed coffee.
Mouth feel is quite lively for the style and has a great bitter coffee after taste that lasts for ever or so it seems.
Nice winter drink and nice bottle..need to find a top i can use this for a great camping water bottle.

Pint at Orenco Taphouse. Pours a jet black color with a tiny grey head. A nice roasty milky nose, some fruit and chocolate. The flavor is lactose, milky, some roast, dark fruit, tobacco, milky chocolate. Black patent perhaps? Good.

Blck, big frothy brown head. Smells like...Chocolate vanilla and graham cracker, big surprise. Taste is also a Símore, but maybe a símore with a cup of coffee.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap at Hop N Bean in Sisters, OR. Pours a full haze deep black. Webby mocha foam. Nose is salty, caramel, weak grassy hops, heavier roast and chocolate cake. Taste is thicker chocolate, grassy hop balance, big bitter cocoa. Palate is superlative with thick chocolate but a big hop balance. Almost Black IPA given the hop forwardness. Not a sticky sweet stout at all.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at the brewpub. Possibly the first and last beer Iíll drink with a marshmallow on the side. Deep black shade with a thin light brown head. Creamy aroma, just like the marshmallow, or is that contributing to it? Taste is sweet with roasted malt and caramel. Decent stout.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 9/20
Draft at Base Camp, Portland, OR on 1 June 2013.
Poured a black with a thin brown head and a little tasted marshmallow on the glass rim. Aroma of strong vanilla, milk chocolate and marshmallows. Initial flavour has some roasted malt and bitter coffee with caramel. However supercharged sweetness comes knocking pretty soon after and itís Hershey bars, sugar and cappuccino... Not my bag at all, just canít abide sweet stouts.
