Cask at Derby Festival ’08. They were rationing this: halves only. Dark gold. Honey malt aroma. Malt and alcohol in the taste. Sweet, sticky mouthfeel. Mid bitter finish. Didn’t quite live up to the hype.

Cask, Derby Winter Fest 2008. Aromas are sweet and woody with syrup and pear. Spicy with light pine. Flavours are spicy pine hops with herbal notes. Fruity and sweet with warming alcohol. Dry on the finish.

A Mes rate: Cask at the White Horse.
Slightly hazy amber with a slim but well behaved white head. Mildly hoppy aroma, quite grassy with notes of pineapple and alcohol. Alcohol is up front in the flavour and it does it no favours at all. Nice grassy hops but they are hidden too much by the alcohol. Nutty and malty finish with yet more lingering alcohol in the finish. Not great.
