3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 Pinball (7726) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - JUN 9, 2011
cask at charlies. Pitch dark, smooth light brown head. Aroma of roasted stuff, flowery sour note as wood, syrup. Faint sour dark fruits like raisins. Flavor is dark fruits in wood. complex and very delicate, reminds me more of belgian beer than stout or imp stout or porter. Very complex, super tasty. Dry. Notes of roasted grains. Ends very dry , like a great porter lagered on raisins an oak.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Dunfie (1) - - JUN 1, 2011 does not count
I’ve had this sitting in my garage for almost a year - it was time to break it out. On pouring it created a lovely thick head that lasted throughout.
The aroma is nutty and chocolate with a little bit of orangy citrus, very pleasant.
Beautifully smooth and complex, creamy mouthfeel and. The cholcolate notes come through first with the nuts following afterward. On swallowing there is awarmth from the alcohol and along dry finish. Not sure if I am detecting a slight amount of diacytel hiding in the background but it certainly doesn’t detract.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Oakes (9988) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 3, 2010
Thanks to Alex! Thick-looking dark brown and slightly muddy. The aroma is quite rich with fruits...and is that diacetyl in the midst of the soy sauce oxidation? Flat. Oily. Lightish flavour leans towards milk chocolate, not much fruit. Slick, flat, more like an old ale really, but you can’t argue with an old school example.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Beershine (4560) - The Sunshine State, Florida, USA - APR 1, 2010
Very black. Tan head. Aroma of musty vampire closet, pencils, lead, and old furniture. Soft and silky smooth palate. Whoa, strange flavors! Tastes very old fashioned. Acai berry chocolate. Cashew carob. Chalk. Chinese plum candy. India ink. Peculiar, odd, and lots of fun!
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 sm89walt (1341) - Norwich, Norfolk, ENGLAND - FEB 13, 2010
Cask - White Cliffs Festival 2010, Dover. Pours a thick, opaque black with no head. Sticks heavily to the glass’ sides. Full of prunes and plum on the nose with some soy sauce. Really vinuous on the tongue with chewy prune flavours and a tarry, smokey malt bitterness. Creamy and dense on the palate with a lingering heat in the throat. Thick and almost impenetrable at 11am but cracking stuff.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 anders37 (9280) - Malmö, SWEDEN - JAN 9, 2010

Slightly fruity roasted malty chocolate and caramel flavor with hints of licorice. Has a roasted malty chocolate and licorice finish with some hints of caramel.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Ethereal (2355) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 31, 2009
Cask at the White Horse Old Ale Festival, 27th Nov 09. Very dark brown in colour. Sour, slightly milky aroma. Rich malty taste and a smooth finish. I wasn’t really taken with this (but then again, I’d just been floored by the Baladin)
