COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask and bottle conditioned.
This exceptionally smooth stout is produced from the original recipe that was shipped to the Russian port of St. Petersburg for the Czar’s Imperial Court. The smooth mellowness derives from the long maturation time in cask before being bottled in very limited numbers.

(Draught from mini-keg) Pours black. The aroma is medium roasted and light burned with tones of dark chocolate, coffee, dark bread, dark syrup and brown sugar. Light sour and vinous with notes of blue grapes and dark fruits like raisins. The flavour is medium roasted with tones of dark chocolate, light caramel, sour coffee and light sour dark bread alongside vinous notes of dark, blue grapes. Some alcohol warmth in both the aroma and flavour. The mouthfeel is light tart, salty and dry. Light to medium sweet and light to medium bitter. Medium bodied.

Bottled from minicask. Dark brown with slight white head. Heavy roastiness in this with charred coffee husk notes, bonfire and rich malts. Quite smooth and treacley sweet with a touch of pine resin in the body. The alcohol seems slightly more pronounced than in the No. 1, giving a bit of a christmas pud finish. A sipper.

Bottle shared by kmweaver. Thanks! Poured deep brown in color with a nearly nonexistent head. Aroma is mildly roasted, oaky, with dark fruits. Tastes of chocolate, dark fruits, oak, roasted malts, with some alcohol warming in the finish. Very happy to try this, Thanks Ken!!!

Huge props to TheCheeseMan for giving me a pour of this. Dark, dark chestnut color, nearly black, very little head, what’s there is tan and soapy. Light sweet roastiness present, slight smokiness, raisins. Pretty mild tasting - slight roast, pretty sweet for an imperial stout, real straightforward. The malt and roast compete here, but the lean towards maltiness (in terms of an imperial stout), doesn’t detract, but gives a different idea of the style. Pretty nice.
