pivnizub (4947), Bochum, Porúří, Germany Jul 6, 2008 Party-keg (@ RBESG 2008): Deep ruby-amber coloured, firm, small beige head; wood, chocolate and mainly roasted malt in the nose; quite full bodied, not too dry bitter-sweet flavour, soft MF; roasted malt, leather, again, in the sweet, dark-malty finish. Good, heavy stuff........ Fin (3376), Merton, Oxfordshire, England Jul 4, 2008 Mini keg courtesy of cgarvieuk, big big thanks to Craig, bottled by Doppelganger, aka Casey, cheers Casey had this 03-07-08 Poured very black, maybe even shark eye black with barely any head of note. The warming alcohol shows quite quickly but its the stunning streaky bitterness that lingers for forever and a day. Roasted coffee on the nose along with some chocolate, Loz got a metallic taste in the mouth like brass, I never but my dad also noted that. I enjoyed this, maybe not quite as much as I expected but it was a well done Imperial Stout that was more simple and less in yer’ face than some in this category. Once again a big thanks to Craig for sorting this out, cheers mate! gnoff (3559), Göteborg, Sweden Jul 2, 2008 5 liter party-keg at RBESG Grand Tasting, June 29, 2008 Marked "Czars P2" Black color, tan head. Vinous, roasted, raissin, alcohol scent. Salty, roasted, raissin, dry taste. Medium mouthfeel and bitterness. bu11zeye (5430), Frisco, Texas, USA Jun 29, 2008 (Hand bottle, courtesy of cgarvieuk) Pours a black body with spare tan bubbles atop. Aroma of vanilla, wood, chocolate, black licorice, and roastiness. Flavor of roasted malt, anise, wood, prunes, raisins, and toffee with a dry, somewhat bitter finish. Craig, thanks for sharing this rarity. Ughsmash (3978), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Jun 25, 2008 Thanks to Craig for another handbottle! Poured deep brown with a loose-bubbled beige head. The aroma picked up sweet, brighter dark fruity notes along with semi-sweet and darker chocolates.. light ashy and woody notes accented. The flavor found dark fruit with some licorice at the core.. bitterness was on the lighter end and was comprised of coffee grounds and fruity notes.. warm and very enjoyable on the finish with residual darker sugars. Medium-plus bodied with about zero carbonation remaining.. the dark sugars worked well together, but the flow across the palate could’ve used some bubbles. Very glad I had the opportunity to try it! 1FastSTi (2551), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA Jun 25, 2008 Handbottle per Jason. The beer pours to a dark brown/black body with no head. The aroma has a creosote and pine sap/soy sauce/fish sauce quality. Pine hops. The flavor is bitter and has a strong black patent and licorice. Not masterfully brewed in my opinion. The palate is medium bodied and has a long bitterness from the malt. Magicdave6 (5383), London, Greater London, England Jun 24, 2008 Mini cask in the house, had fresh and after 36 hours venting, which is right now as i rate. Many thanks to go out cgarvieuk for getting these one off mini casks which are infact the last time these beers will ever be made. I almost feel guilty about having them since this is the last of it, but hey beers for drinking! Poured into small cantillon tulip, still a decent amount of carbonation after the amount of venting, but is gradually disapearing. Aroma is roasty chocolate malts, small metallic/plastic note, which may be partly the mini cask but also im guessing something from the hopos as its reasonably earthy and the two can be closely tied at times. Some artifical plum and other berry fruits too, the alc is well hidden but slightly peppery. Taste is initally roasty and burnt toast, thankfully its not too full bodied and the chocolate malt takes over ones your swallowed and the peppery floural hop/alcohol tingles the tougne with the roasty chocolate malts. The finish is long, still slightly pluckering. Im very very gla to have had this, even though its not really my thing(and the guys are coming round tonite to help me get rid of it). One of the better imp stouts iv had in the last year and worthwhile perhaps a few brewers taking note of it! Chin chin Bass, its been good knowing you. Ofortuna (322), Grafton, Wisconsin, USA Jun 21, 2008 Thanks to Jason for this treat. No carbonation and zero head. Salty flavour that reminds me of a vietnamese oyster sauce. Some slightly hidden coffee flavours well deep into the finish. The only discernable hop character that still remains is a tart bitterness that maintains the overall balance. Interesting.
