Brewed from the late 70s at Burton. In 2000, after Interbrew bought the Bass brand, production was switched to the Ulster brewery in Northern Ireland. In 2003 production and distribution was switched to Latrobe for a 12-18 period after which it reverted to the UK, latterly at InBevís Samlesbury brewery. As of 2012, the US version was being produced at A-B InBevís Baldwinsville brewery.

Seems slightly bland after having pale ales by Sierra Nevada, for instance, but it will do. Mix with Guiness for a truly glorious concoction!

This is the second beer I ever liked (following only Guiness), and it remains an old favorite of mine to this day. I prefer it in a black and tan with Guiness, but by itself it is a very strong offering of the style. It is a very consistent ale and one of the more refined...American mass-brewers could learn a lot from this one if they actually gave a damn.

A solid beer. Year after year this ale remains consistent. Well balanced, not as hoppy as some its microbrewed cousins, but still very good.

UPDATED: MAR 24, 2007 Bottle: Pale orange, light fruits and cardboard, light bodied, light bitter and light earth. Bass Ale tastes a lot better when mixed with a Guinness or when not drank at all.

This is a great ale for not being a microbrew. It has a solid taste and demands respect.
