2.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
I’m brewing a pale ale now, so I thought I’d try this out to make some mental notes how I compare to a stalwart. Well, I haven’t tried mine yet (obviously), but this is not as good as I remember. Kinda bland. Yes, the deep amber color is still there. However, the aroma and flavor have gone - poof! The head and lacing are OK. Sam Adams tastes more like a bitter than this. Slightly metallic aftertaste. Mouthfeel is on the weak side. I don’t dislike this and I would try it again, but this is no longer the standard bearer for pales/esb’s.

Good highly carbonated beer. Has a very pleasant aroma. Not much head. But, out of the pale ales I've tried I think this ones my favorite.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
On-tap. Pours clear copper-amber with a nice white head that quickly fades away. Mild caramel malts and herbal aromas. Moderate malty sweetness, some bready notes, short hoppy bitter finish. Light body, too watery. Easy to drink but pretty basic.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Draft. Pours deep red with no head. Mild carbonation with thin watery mouthfeel. Malt aroma comes through in taste. It's like Budweiser with red food coloring and slightly more alcohol.

Tap at Pat O’Brien’s in the Citywalk near Universal Studios. Not a lot to choose from so this was the option. Pint glass. Nearly amber in color...strong copper. Aroma on the malt end of the spectrum. Taste follows suit. Maybe a hint of hops but malt, grain steal the show. It’s really not that bad if you take into consideration it doesn’t really look to impress. There is a little bitter at the end but minimal. I would consider this OK. Just don’t expect greatness.
