A version of Bass for the North American market at 5%.
Brewed from the late 70s at Burton. In 2000, after Interbrew bought the Bass brand, production was switched to the Ulster brewery in Northern Ireland. In 2003 production and distribution was switched to Latrobe for a 12-18 period after which it reverted to the UK, latterly at InBev’s Samlesbury brewery. As of 2012, the US version was being produced at A-B InBev’s Baldwinsville brewery.

(backlog in abstinentia) 12oz bottles@Jess, NJ 2012. Some floral hops survive a quick metallic-caramel onslaught. Watery-papery palate - down & over in a few painless gulps. Yet this is a step up from what I remember this drinking as in BE. Not sure if I need to find out the difference in taste to the UK version.

12 oz. bottle from Wilbur’s. Appearance: finger of loose reddish head, amber red color, clear, head does not last. Aroma: caramel, light floral, light orange, very very light roast malt. Palate: watery texture, light carbonation, light bitter finish. Taste: sweet malt start, light bitter finish. Overall, very boring.

Bottle. Light orange with a foamy peachy white head. Malty, light toffee, light alcohol, and grassy bitterness. Flavor is balanced between light sweetness and grassy bitterness. Lighter watery body.

An okay beer, this is fairly malty, certainly more than a real pale ale. Nothing special, actually prefer harp when mixing with Guinness.

Solid pale ale. Nice carbonation bite and slightly sweet aftertaste. It’s not something I’ll pursue again, but I could drink more of this.

Draught. Some people rave about this, drink nothing else, but I'm not so enamoured. Smelly, salty aromas of wet leaves and light caramel. Nutty brown look. Lightish body, sedate carbonation. Uneven flavours of buttery malt, caramel, and damp fruit. A kind of downer.

Brewed by William Bass & Cos, Baldwinsville, NY. Amber with a thick cream head; biscuity malt aroma; biscuity malt taste with some soft caramel; and a sweet biscuity aftertaste, with some very light hops. I suspect William is spinning in his grave back in Burton.

Light amber and little head. Mild, balanced and easy to drink... It went down smoothly and will have again definitely
