A version of Bass for the North American market at 5%.
Brewed from the late 70s at Burton. In 2000, after Interbrew bought the Bass brand, production was switched to the Ulster brewery in Northern Ireland. In 2003 production and distribution was switched to Latrobe for a 12-18 period after which it reverted to the UK, latterly at InBev’s Samlesbury brewery. As of 2012, the US version was being produced at A-B InBev’s Baldwinsville brewery.

bottled. Aroma is a bit metallic , slightly malty and a bit of pleasant hops. The beer is light amber , with a short lasting head. Flavor: starts with light maltyness , then goes bitter and very very dry. end with a note of hop flavor. medium-low palate. Overall: a nice beer, but too dry and not full enough for my taste. Its not malty enough to be called a Premium Bitter.

12 oz. bottle, brewed in AB´s mega brewery in Baldwinsville, NY. Pours a pretty decent amber, but that is where any similarity to the UK version ends. Thin, watery taste with a bit of a caramel aftertaste. The aroma and palate are the same as you find in all of AB´s products. This makes me wonder if this is even an ale at all. If they are trying to cut costs by using cheap ingredients, then it would make sense that they would not go to the trouble of using a top-fermenting ale yeast strain. Not terrible, but certainly a great disservice to the Bass name. They have now done to Bass what they did to Beck´s. Is Stella Artois next?

This was my go to British ale before I lived in the UK and discovered what real British ale tasted like. This version more closely resembles fizzy yellow American macro liquids, gold in color, light in bitterness, flavor and body.

"a light pale, in both color and aroma...and flavor. Very smooth, especially served on nitro, but thin and there’s not enough going on to keep me too interested. ok."

Draft at Sly Fox (Pinehurst, NC). Orange/amber pour with a bit of tan head. Aroma of fresh bread, vinegar (?). Lots of earthy, bread-y qualities here. Toasted walnuts come to mind for some reason. Overall, easy sipper.

330ml bottle poured in a tulip glass. A: Nice clear amber color with a thin beige head which remains for a good time but leave only few lacings around S: Caramel malts. Sweet. Nutty and woody too. Hoppy end T: Follows the nose: Caramel malts are very evident. Dry. Light bitterness M: Light body and reasonable carbonation to an English Ale. A bit molasses D: Very drinkable. Should be a little bit more bitter to be perfect :) [ BA Review @ 12/14/2010 ]

Pours a medium color of amber and a thin non existent head. Little to no aroma, with a taste to match.
