Tingly malts on the nose. Sick, chlorine sweetness in the mouth. Not very pleasant. I mean its not bad but mainly metallic sugariness. Not my cup of tea.

The version rated here is the bottled version. I find this to be much better on draught, and an especially good treat when tasted in Britain. Pours a nice, orange-copper color, with a firm, tan head that lasts. Good nose, both malt and hops come through, making for an herbal bread-like aroma. Nice smooth body. Nice freshly baked bread flavor, with a good citrusy hop character joining in. There is a mild yeast flavor here as well, but rather than detracting, it comes off quite good. Years ago, I had this ale for the first time in Britain - Liverpool to be precise. I wasn’t crazy about it at first, preferring the more local ales of the area like Higson’s and Tetley, but it sort of grew on me. Through the years, it had lost, then regained back some of its initial character. Happy to say, that in the U.S. at least, Bass is a fine example of the many fine ales made in Britain... and we’re lucky to have it over here!

Meh, pretty much what I was expecting. Some maltiness, some caramel-ness even, but nothing really exceptional about it. Basically a higher-end macro....better than a lot of of the common macro stuff, but nothing that I’d go out of my way to get a hold of. But if it’s a choice between Bass and, say, Bud...I’d go Bass.

Clear golden color. Aroma is mainly malts and hops. Flavor is pretty much the same. Has a malty aftertaste. For a mass production beer, this is not too bad.

easily drinkable, not bad overall but some flavor that is unique and slightly unpleasant.

Extremely challenging to avoid any bias in favor of this beer. Appearance is crisp golden, perhaps light amber. Generous white head with long duration. Aroma is biscuity & bready. Fresh. Clean. Palate is medium to light bodied with inoffensive malt & hops, nicely balanced, but nothing to get excited about. Just reliable goodness with this ale. Finish is semi short with a mild lingering sweetness.

I’ve always liked this beer. Tastey every time and pretty full of flavor. The bitter taste isn’t overpowering or too intense, but just the right amount for a refreshing day beer.
