I can’t believe it took me over 1500 beers before I tried Bass. Oh well, such is the case. Pours a translucent light copper with a one finger offwhite head. Nose is sweet, malty, mild herbal hop aroma, some yeast esters. Flavor is sweet, caramel, crisp, mild hop feel with little to no bitterness. Palate is a tad thin and sweet and lacking in hop bitterness. Meh.

500 ml can. Pours dark amber to copper in colour, with off-white head, good retention. Aroma of earthy hops, similar flavour. Carbonation is lively.

Pours a light copper color with a thin white head. Tastes of smooth malts, caramel, toffee, with a slight hint of hops. An average pale ale.

On tap at The Toucan. Pours ruby brown with a small head that recedes quickly. Smooth sweet malts, with a hint of hops and spice. Sticky, honey-like mouth feel. Textbook solid bitter.

Quite good balance however sweet malts beat the non-distinctive hop, I do not want to offend anybody but a bit lagerish, medium-light mouth-feel,

Draft. Nice copper color with a small, fluffy white head. The head hung around for a couple minutes. The nose was mostly sweet malt and a hint of hops. Carbonation was medium with a medium-light mouthfeel. The malt and hops are in very good balance overall. Sweet malt taste with a hint of honey. The hops add what seems to be the slightest bit of spice. Light lingering bitter finish. Overall not a bad brew. You can certainly do much worse.

For a mass produced pale ale this one could be worse. I enjoyed it actually. refreshing, nothing surprising, but not too bad.

Tested including Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Bass Pale Ale, and Terraping Rye Pale Ale. Pours Copper color with small head. Aroma is of lightly of sweet malt, carmel (aromas are very light). Taste is crisp lightly sweet malt, dried fruit (raisins/prunes), and light bitter finish. Very balanced but lacking flavor. Overall-Taste like a good pale ale that someone poured some water in. I give this 3rd place.
