Light coppery appearance, foamy head.Heavy malt and some hop aroma. Some caramel malt in the flavor but thats about it. Sort of watery and unpleasing. Mildly bitter finish. Eh.

in a ’pub’ can. for what it is, a classic brit pale, it is what it is and does a great job of it. creamy, barely sweet (or bitter)...balanced and drinkable. sure, any hophead or craft beer nut will be ’disappointed’ but you gotta love and appreciate the roots of it all. an important and still great brew. and to boot, in a can!

joeneugs (1423) - Livermore, California, USA - MAR 25, 2009
Reddish amber color with a small tan head. It has a nutty, sweet overripe fruit aroma with only a hint of hops. The taste is sweet fruit; berries, pear, and apple come to mind. Almost candyish in the finish with not much bitterness at all. Of course this is a classic, if not overwhelming, very drinkable English ale.

12 oz bottle. Pours a light clear brown color, with a quickly receding head. Smells of sweet malts, and a little bit of hops. Taste is caramelly, with a nice amount of burnt malts and hops on the end. Pleasantly carbonated beer.

Honey colored body with fine tan head that hangs around a while. Sweet malt, caramel, and earthy tones make up the nice aroma. Very smooth and silky palate with moderate carbonation. The flavor mimmicks the aroma well with caramel, toffee, and malt dominating until the end where just a slight hoppy bitterness sneaks in. Little aftertaste. A very good beer.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear amber/copper color. Flavor: Mild hops, bold malt, quite good.

Papillon (280) - Sudbury, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 13, 2009
500 mL Can. Clear amber with a 1-finger off-white head that settles to a thin foamy layer leaving good lacing on the sides. The aroma is sweet malt with a floral note and a hint of honey. The flavor is sweet malt with a note of apple and toffee, a mild almost Cheddar-like aftertaste, and a not too overpowering hoppy finish. Another fine Brit and a good one for a cool summer evening at the fishing camp.
