thechandler (268), Morgantown, West Virginia, USA Feb 11, 2008 Pours a clear copper. Aroma is slightly sweet and malty. Taste isn’t overwhelming in any specific area. Good dose of malts though. Not too hoppy. Has a background flavor that reminds me a lot of Newcastle. Overall, pretty good. ux04 (30), Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA Feb 10, 2008 Well...it looks very nice in a glass, but I’m afraid I consider this to be a very boring beer. Nothing exciting in the taste...I’m sure this was a great beer back in 1830 or whatever the hell. Coreyryan09 (16), USA Feb 8, 2008 i had high hopes for this beer but they were shot down .......teribleafter tase....sort of smels like pine........very bitter....my least favorite pale ale Tripplebrew (486), Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA Feb 8, 2008 Pours a clear copper with a layer of cream-colored head. Aromas of malts and caramelized/burnt sugar (subtle) and biscuit. Flavor malt and hops. Really nothing special but an okay choice for something light. spikester (602), Salem, Oregon, USA Feb 6, 2008 Pours a light copper color with an off-white two-finger head. Tastes of malt, subdued bitter hops, and a nice slightly dry finish. What it lacks in character it more than makes up for it with consistency. There are better English Ales but this one is pretty good and can be found almost anywhere. BitchesBrew (710), Berkeley, California, USA Feb 6, 2008 [WBA Styles Tasting] Clear copper color. Fruity, biscuit malt aroma. Slight licorice in the nose. Very bitter and dry, with a slightly oxidized, mineral flavor. Some residual sweetness towards the end. Charlzm (247), Los Angeles, California, USA Feb 4, 2008 On tap at The Crest, Torrance, 02/02/08. VERY clear brassy pour. No bubbles, quickly dissipating head. Sweet corny malt aroma. Sweet malty taste that turns into crisp green apples. Slight bitterness peeks through at end. Light, easy to drink session beer. You can easily do much, much worse. tronraner (1905), Maryville, Tennessee, USA Feb 3, 2008 Finally getting around to rating this. Draught. Pours clear brass color with thin bubbly white head. The aroma is buttered toast with a little bit of herbal hops. the flavor is also light buttered toast with a little bit of fruit and hay hop notes, especially toward the finish. Meh.
