From bottle in a pint glass. Bass is the beer I order when I’m at a place that doesn’t have any good beer. Pours copper. Taste is realtively mild, mostly sweet malt. Not much hop character, Very smooth and drinkable. Not a bad beer, but defintely suffers from comparison to the huge beers I’ve been having lately.

This used to be the only alternative import to Heineken you could get in restaurants before craft/import took off. Poured a little cloudy and with a finer head (think nitrogen, though I know that’s not the case) that dissipated quickly. A bit more carbonated than a lot of IPAs and a bit of an astringent after taste. But it has a full mouth feel despite a hint of sourness that, while interesting, doesn’t contribute to what I feel the style. If Heineken was the only other import at the restaurant, I’d definitely go with the Bass,,,

Pours a clear copper. Aroma is slightly sweet and malty. Taste isn’t overwhelming in any specific area. Good dose of malts though. Not too hoppy. Has a background flavor that reminds me a lot of Newcastle. Overall, pretty good.

Well...it looks very nice in a glass, but I’m afraid I consider this to be a very boring beer. Nothing exciting in the taste...I’m sure this was a great beer back in 1830 or whatever the hell.

Pours a clear copper with a layer of cream-colored head. Aromas of malts and caramelized/burnt sugar (subtle) and biscuit. Flavor malt and hops. Really nothing special but an okay choice for something light.

Pours a light copper color with an off-white two-finger head. Tastes of malt, subdued bitter hops, and a nice slightly dry finish. What it lacks in character it more than makes up for it with consistency. There are better English Ales but this one is pretty good and can be found almost anywhere.
