Hammster (187), Eagan, Minnesota, USA Oct 12, 2007 568 ml/19.25 oz bottle. What’s up with the size? It’s not metric or American. Oh well, at least the bottle’s a little unique. Pours a nice dark red with a small, thin off-white head. Sweet light aroma that is on the sharp side--like a sweet bug spray you could drink. Taste is bitter and a little burnt . Sweet too but it’s more of an undertone. Don’t really care for bitters but definitely on the malty side for one. patty26 (95), New York, New York, USA Oct 8, 2007 Nice cool reddish/amber color in the pour. Extremely bitter the second it hits your palate, but calms down as the beer warms up. GlenVargas (120), El Paso, Texas, USA Oct 8, 2007 I usually only drink Bass when I feel like fixin’ up a Black ’n’ Tan. However, I had some Bass (draft) the other night, and it stands up alright on its own. The taste is, of course, immediately bitter, but it seemed like a softer bitterness than I get from excessively hoppy American beers. There’s isn’t a wide range of spice or caramel flavors as I’ve come to expect from "pale ales" either. The taste was generally more subdued, and, in a way, that was refreshing. The finish was minimally bitter--cool and clean. I think beer is generally better on draft, so I was a little more pleased with Bass this go ’round than I have been in the past. rcasta (470), El Salvador Oct 8, 2007 this is a well rounded beer and very consistent. i would love it with a longer finish and a little more malt. pumpmaster (473), Pembroke Pines, Florida, USA Oct 7, 2007 12 ounce bottle available at Total Wine Fort Lauderdale, FL at $1.49 Excellent restaurant draft. dkazuk (247), winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Oct 7, 2007 330ml bottle.
Dark amber with small head. Smells fruity and sweet. Tastes similar with a bitter alcoholic aftertaste. Med body. Not on of my fav’s. daniel0017 (232), Ontario, Canada Oct 4, 2007 On tap at Grace O’Malley’s: Pale golden/amber, scant head. Good taste of fresh, harvested barley. Sharp bitter tang yet finishes smooth, satisfying. Smooth, rounded mouthfeel. 17thfloor (1402), Chicago, Illinois, USA Oct 4, 2007 Updated: Feb 23, 2008Dark amber with medium white froathy head and some bubbles. aroma of sweet malt. Dont know if it call it a bitter/esb... seems more of an marzen. Very sweet malt and carmal flavor, or maybe toffee is more accurate.
