Rictus (126), Camdenton, Missouri, USA Mar 17, 2007 Aroma: Sweet, not very hoppy.... Appearance:a rather beautiful dark copper... Flavor: A slightly bittersweet but very smooth and light ale. Mouthfeel: Boring watery stuff. All together.... should be abit cheaper but I like it. GuyCuba (15), USA Mar 16, 2007 Good color and unobtrusive flavor, albeit with a hint of ginger ale and a slight chemical tang. Best used for washing down brown food (i.e. pub grub). (This was from the bottle; it’s better on tap if I recall correctly.) drpimento (785), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA Mar 14, 2007 Updated: Sep 4, 2008Despite its classical historic character there’s some wateriness and commercial characteristics to this old warhorse. This is from a bottle I had at Bodega Brew Pub downtown La Crosse.
Just had a can of the Pub Pour version and it is noticibly better. Maltier and smoother. Better. thegreenrooster (1811), St.louis, Missouri, USA Mar 13, 2007 One of those beers that you can’t believe you haven’t rated yet. Pour is a orange with a white head. Aroma is very hard to come by. Flavor is a bit musty but again there is not much coming out. Not a great beer experence. Available almost anywhere but something to pass up. Ritterkreuz (179), Seneca Falls, New York, USA Mar 11, 2007 Surprisingly watery, no real flavor, very basic, but easy to drink, which may account for its popularity. Pours a very light amber. bboeckl (133), Grafton, Wisconsin, USA Mar 8, 2007 Updated: May 12, 2007On tap. Poured a clear amber brown with a 2 finger head. Smooth malty flavor. Medium palate. Overall, a very drinkable beer. Nothing extraordinary. gnoff (3559), Göteborg, Sweden Mar 7, 2007 (355 ml bottle from Systembolaget) Labeled 5.1%. Dark copper to brown color, lasting firm beige head. Weak sweet and malty scent, also light floral and fruity. Weak bitter, sweet and caramel taste, also some toffee and a touch of metal. Light to medium body, rather high co2 level. Low to medium low bitterness. Aftertaste is metallic, sweet and malty. BustedFlat (552), Edina, Minnesota, USA Mar 4, 2007 Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a pint glass, amber with a medium white head. Almost no aroma, perhaps some very faint malt. The taste is very thin, a touch of sweetness and malt and a touch of bitterness on the finish, but there just isn’t much going on here. Fuller’s ESB is far superior as an English ESB.
