2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
I had it on tap. It pours a pale amber color with some white head and lacing. The aroma is faint caramel and bready. The taste is the same with a very faint hint of bitterness. It was a bit too sweet. It was light on carbonation and a little thin. This is an average and inoffensive beer.

Tap sample. looks OK but lacking character. Another stripped down classic. Remember what Ford did to Jaguar? Donít put up with this, know what youíre drinking and boycot .

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Rated from old notes. Bass has a unique taste that is instantly identifiable. Initially sweet, with caramel and malts. Rather staid and unexciting, but still pleasant. Faint sourness at the finish. Good with food. Decent.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Powerful in flavor and aroma. High in hops so bitter in taste. I like it very cold and it could actually be very refreshing. Totally recommended

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bready, toasty biscuit-like aroma. Low on the esters. Slight evidence of caramel on the nose. Aroma not intense in any way. Hop aroma is slight and earthy. Color is a gold to pale Amber. Total clarity, decent head that dissipates rather quickly. Almost no caramel flavor that is emblematic of this style and on the palate there is balance toward the hops more than the malt. Crisp, spritzy finish that was not all that impressive, but it is drinkable. Overall I feel like it lacks character and is a little boring, but not terrible.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Kind of an odd tasting beer. Caramel notes with a floral hop body. Mild bitterness to finish. Tastes like an English pale ale.

Iím rating this here on the basis that the commercial deScription on Ratebeer currently says that this is the entry for Bass Pale Ale brewed at Burton in the 70s.
1977 Bicentenary version shared by Matteo at Paulís 10K. Thanks! Dark orange, slight haze, very lightly sparkling, small bubbly white head. Aroma is really sweet with sugar syrup and stewed orange. Body is medium, smooth, low carbonation, a bit watery. Taste is watery demerara, dark bread, kvass, touch of blackcurrant jam. Interesting to try. Has held up well and the oxidation has turned it mega-sweet. With some aged beers a sample is all you can do, but I think I could have done a full bottle of this to myself.
