COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Available filtered in bottles, cans, and kegs.
A version of Bass, primarily for the North American market at 5%.
Brewed from the late 70’s at Burton. In 2000, after Interbrew bought the Bass brand, production was switched to the Ulster brewery in Northern Ireland. In 2003 production and distribution was switched to Latrobe for a 12-18 period after which it reverted to the UK, latterly at InBev’s Samlesbury brewery. As of 2012, the US version was being produced at A-B InBev’s Baldwinsville brewery but production at Samlesbury continues for other export markets.

Light amber ale with a thin white head. Light caramel and hops aroma with mineral notes. Light malty taste with light english hops and light nuttyness. A thin ale, but with nice effects of minerals in mouth.

Amber colour under a white head. Herbaceous smell over a decent malt and some bitter hops. There is something quite strange in the taste that I can't quite describe. Otherwise, taste is quite malty with some caramel sweetness and dry hops.

On tap: Pours a light brown with very little head. Semi-sweet, malty aroma leads into a fuller body with a somewhat hoppy finish. This is an average beer, but much better than your standard draught offerings.

Pours with an off-white fizzy head covering a clear copper body. Areoma is a tad metallicy, with grapes and its more malty than hoppy. Taste is malty with some DMS and a corny aftertaste. Pretty watery. Fizzy mouthfeel.

Smells mild and weak, but still of faint hops. Experience is at first brisk, tasting of hops, but is too watery and thin to be enjoyed. Mid-way through the drink it becomes more balanced between the mild and the "bitter"... using quotes only because there is such a small amount that I wonder why it's called a pale ale at all. Overall it is too carbonated for my tastes, and this carbonation seems to trump anything else it has to offer.

Honey candy and acid fruit, but very quiet…Some metal in the hops…A whiff from an old garbage bag…

I may be a Brit, but I am rating the inferior Belgian Pale Ale version. Appearance is amber with a small head. Aromas are hops and toffee. Flavours are toffee, spices and hops. A bit thin and not a great pale ale. Lacks the Burton sulphur of Bass Ale. For me the Pale Ale is a totally different beer.

No smell, a tad sweet then goes bitter, watery, no colour. Faint hops. Harsh finish, thin mouthfeel.Carbonation like soda. Though a drop of fruity sweet inside of bittern
