3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Gusler (2653) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - DEC 22, 2002Re-Rate 12/22/02:
The beer pours a deep clear amber to copper color, lavish frothy beige head and tonnes of lace that clings to the glass. Malts dominate the nose, clean, crisp and quite pleasant. Starts slightly malt sweet, the top is skimpy, the finish is mildly carbonated, sparingly hopped, the aftertaste droughty.
Bass being the first English beer I sampled so many years ago, it pains me to see how it has lost it’s robustness, now it’s less hop laden, thinner, alas all good things must end, this I know. None the less it’s a shame, nay I say a crime, to let the pond scum sucking, money grubbing cretins take over and ruin such a fine brewery, same goes for Guinness, and many other wonderful breweries. Once the ’Bottom Line’, becomes a breweries only concern, in most cases ’Quality’ goes out the window. My personal feeling is as follows:
’May they burn in hades with their money as the fuel that feeds Satans furnace’.

Draught and bottle. Having had a few versions of this I think the US version is the thinest and least rounded - in particular on the malt front.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Welley_Alves (118) - Sao Paulo, BRAZIL - JUN 2, 2013
Boa ESB americana. Cor âmbar, com pequena formacao de espuma. No nariz, herbáceo pouco evidente, contrabalançando com o malte torrado. Na boca, amargor agradável, equilibrado com o dulçor do malte a seguir. Retrogosto amargo suave. Ótima drinkability. Boa breja!

12 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Pours dark amber with a small white head and some lacing. Aroma of grain, and caramel from malts. Taste is nice and bitter combined with some caramel malty sweetness. Overall a nice very drinkable beer.

Its a decent pale ale, they seem to have gotten the hops spot on with the flavor. A fruity aroma was detected. No head or lacing. I use this for a quick and cheap black and tan when I am in the mood and not much else
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 EtTuCthulhu (461) - Columbia, Missouri, USA - MAY 29, 2013
The color of this beer is a reddish orange with a small white head, and the aroma smells like dough yeast, bready malts, and a touch of caramel malts. The taste is mildly sour and a touch bitter, and the palate combines a medium body, soft carbonation, sour finish, and a slick texture, which merely exists without really standing out or making itself known.

I thought this was a decent beer, a little lighter than I had expected due to the dark apperance. Slightly bitter with a weak hop character.
