4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 Jerre (2165) - Waregem, BELGIUM - DEC 2, 2006
330 ml bottle. Cloudy light, pale peachy-yellow with white head. Aroma is sour but turns sweeter, almost a brown-sugary malty sweet aroma. Mouthfeel is soft. Flavor lightly lemony-citrus, sweeter malt and yeast flavor. Complex and a great palate. Is this the same beer as bornem tripel ?

Clear golden color with a white head. Smell little bit malty but otherwise very nice. Taste little bitter, pretty nice as well. Good carbonation, good body.

26/08/2011 33cl bottle @ home - BB:4/05/12 (2011-409)
Little cloudy blond beer, irregular white head, bit stable, adhesive. Aroma: ripe fruits, melon, candi sugar. MF: lots of carbon, medium body. Taste: very fruity, citrus, strawberries, banana, lemon, oranges, some alcohol, citric hops. Aftertaste: more citric hops, some lemon, soft bitter ending. Maybe it was the age on this one, but I liked it very much.

Bottle. Okay - I’m a sucker but a donkey on the label is a must-buy for me - the new label has an actual donkey. Strong sweet apple cider, lemon and alcohol aroma. Pale yellow with gigantic, explosive white head and tiny little bubbles. Tart lemon/apple malt aroma - alcohol does not come out near as much as the aroma would lead you to believe. Aroma seemed a bit off but a very nice flavor - somewhat saison-like which I really enjoy.

Bottle at hop duvel ... slight hazy amber ... soft toffee fruit nose ... odd fruits ... light sweet and juicy ... easy.

Bottle sampled at Papsø’s on 8/30/09: Transparent golden brass pour has a well-lacing froth of white head. Aroma of sweet biscuity pale malt with a touch of floral lavender. Starts with decent fullness and sweet biscuity malty flavor with a semi-dry earthy bittering balance with some light buttery notes toward a drier finish.

Bottle at home. Clear golden pour with a huge white head. Aroma is spicy and with Belgian hops. Flavor is very spicy, peppery and bitter hoppy. Very lively carbonation. Intense brew, not as bad as some ratings suggest. Quite like it actually.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Bullit (3284) - Burgos, SPAIN - DEC 7, 2007
Hazy yellow colour, huge foamy head. Aroma is initially sour, like vinegar. Furthermore some citrus. Flavour is yeasty, soapy and alcoholic.

No doubt the same as Maerlant Tripel, Gerulfus Tripel, Ledebergse Tripel, Piraat 9, and God knows what else... Pale gold under off-white, very fine dense head. Sweetish vanilla nose, creamy, alcohol, bit spicey and floral. Sharpish spicey-peppery tastes, maybe some faint citrus. Retronasal sweeter, as non-fermented sugar, which is strange for a bottle-conditioned beer. Sharpness is not burning, alcohol there but a bit hidden, creamy mouthfeel. Reasonable tripel, typical VS. Which is it, please?
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 DruncanVeasey (5138) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Prem, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - MAR 16, 2007
(Sampled blind at Piper’s End Beer festival)....Pretty standard barrelly coriander snout. Pale spritzy gold pour heaped with rocky white foam. Sculptures of froth climbing out of the glass. But it is a Pernod flute. A similar malty softness to Duvel, with added bitterness, a slight smokiness and a spiritous warming burn. That antiseptic, woody note at the end again. Quite a decent Tripel with a touch too much alcohol.
