On-tap at the brewpub. Edgy bitterness and high malt, like a double IPA. Cloudy orange and lots of lace. Breathing in the C-hop grapefruit aroma, citrus flavour-check.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Pailhead (3435) - Plymouth, Michigan, USA - JAN 28, 2012
On tap: The aroma consists of pine and light sweet citrus. It’s a transparent amber with a small soapy head that leaves a some nice lacing. The flavor starts with sweet citrus and faint toastiness. The finish has moderate pine and light grapefruit. Overall, a solid piney IPA. I prefer citrus/grapefruit driven IPAs.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 GregClow (2664) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 24, 2006
Draught sampler at the brewpub. Reddish-amber. Sweet malt and orangey hops in the aroma. Flavour has good maltiness to start, slowly building to a tasty citric hop finish. A really solid IPA that gets better with every sip.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 tupalev (2730) - Waterloo, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 25, 2006
Draught at the brewpub, Michigan Trip ’06. Belgian Pale listed on the menu, but IPA on the chalkboard - this was definitely the IPA. Dark orange, very small white head. Lots of amber malt in aroma and slight hops. Taste makes up for the mild aroma - a great mix of malt and sharp grapefruit hops. Good solid body to this IPA. A great IPA and the first of many I would try on this trip!
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 HogTownHarry (4872) - Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, CANADA - JUL 24, 2006
UPDATED: JUL 26, 2006 Draught. At the brewpub with blankboy, GregClow, jerc and tupalev. Hazy deep amber with a small white head. Aroma of light sweet malt, quite sugary (and dusty) to my nose, with mild floral hops. The bitterness is revealed in the taste - dry bitter hops - just enough malt character to balance it. Nondescript body, bitter lightly astringent mouthfeel with a medium-long finish - a session IPA and pretty tasty considering the aroma wasn’t all that promising - the finish really is interesting and this is a beer you need to let unfold, there’s a decent complexity in that finish.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 Coltrane (108) - South Carolina, USA - JUL 19, 2009
A nice little beer. Cloudy and grassy with a medium hop bitterness. Not much citrus notes. Quite drinkable but nothing to go out of your way for.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 blankboy (4437) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 26, 2006
Draught at the brewpub. Pours a cloudy dark amber with a spare diminishing white head. Aroma is hoppy and fruity with some sweet malt. Flavour starts subtle with light citrus hops and sweet malt but has a long bitter finish. Medium bodied. A pretty good IPA.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Dogbrick (4828) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - AUG 26, 2011
Sample at the brewpub. This brew is a slightly cloudy orange color with a medium off-white head that diminishes steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrusy hops and malt. Medium body with a moderately bitter hops flavor that has citrus and pine notes. Sweet malt underneath. The finish is short and hoppy. Decent overall.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 jerc (5580) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 23, 2006
Waiter seemed to think this was the same as the Belgian Pale but that does not match the IPA listed on the board or the flavour of the beer - this was definitely and IPA. Dark amber body with a small beige head. Moderate resin and hops in the aroma. Very pleasant citrus up front, moderate hoppy bitterness and resin, more than expected from the aroma.
