Black as the oil stains that once graced the floors of our beloved machine shed turned brewery, this cream stout was our first attempt at brewing a real beer. We use roasted and chocolate malts to give it the rich dark color and to balance out its delicate sweetness. After just one sip we’re certain it will become one of your favorites, just as it is ours.

UPDATED: MAY 3, 2014 Pours dark ruby red with a nice tan head. Aroma is dark fruits and roasted malt. Taste is the same...not good cold, but does have a nice coffee bitterness on the back end. A decent stout, nothing earth-shattering.

It has cola pour with red edges and big, tan head. The aroma has light chocolate and caramel with sugary raisins. It has a medium body with somewhat creamy texture and average carbonation. The taste is sweet with a mildly dry finish.

Bottle in trade from Strykezone. Thick tan head over dark, oily body. Creamy and rich. Roasted malts coming through heavy. The sweetness is nice hear. Lots of carbonation on this one. Could have done with a bit less. Overall pretty good.

Dark brown pour with a tan head. The aroma is full of milk chocolate and roasted malt. The flavor is more of the same with some chocolate, cream and roasted malt. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Tastes very malty....almost slightly under fermented. Not much head. Poor balance. Im not a fan of this.

Having traveled to the area where Bat Creek is brewed and missing out once I managed to find a couple of examples in the Saint Louis area. For a rural brewery it is nothing special. Then again every beer does not have to a world beater especially when you get a chance to affordably support a regional up and comer.

Aroma / Appearance - The pour results in a glass filled with a soft black base and head the color of faded yellowing newspaper. Licorice, Nestle Quik, and traces of ash are simple but sell themselves well.

Flavor / Palate - Carbonated and fluid, the mouthfeel bubbles across the palate. A little note of olives is distracting but eventually goes away. When it does the finish is of Hershey’s chocolate and ash. Despite the flaws it shows some promise. Maybe if I ever go through central Missouri again I’ll try to find a few more.

Bottle- Pours a black color with a tan head that lasts until the end with nice lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, bittersweet chocolate and trace of coffee. Taste of bittersweet chocolate, some coffee with a nice bitterness and a clean finish. Full body, smooth and creamy. Very good stout that goes down easy. Best beer I have had from this small regional brewer.
