3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
these guys are still getting things sorted out with some of their other beers but this one shows what they can do. fluorescent fruity aroma, pale, nice lacing. light sao level malt toastiness with bit of a slick of carapils; some nice minerally/fruity aleyness; sharp, tingly bitterness with grapefruit, hopsack, vanilla and nice low level malt returning in finish. id drink this over LCPA or SNPA anytime - but it is a bit of a mystery why their beers are so expensive with the minimal packaging and distribution costs they have...

This is my second beer from Batch Brewing and I bought it from Brewski at Paddington. Don’t really see these beers here in Brisbane that often and I try to get them when I can. I’ve only seen these beers in big bottles, which is okay with me.
Can’t decide whether I’m a fan of these guys or not. Probably should try a few more of their beers before I make that decision. The American Pale Ale is a good beer, a bit murky looking.
Poured into a lager glass the beer is hazy with a fairly big head. Aroma is hard to detect and you really have to work to get some light citrus aroma. While the beer is okay and goes down well it did leave me wanting a bit more from it.
They do have a unique way of labelling their beers - cardboard tags held around the neck of the bottle with string.

Good local brewer around these parts, I first found it on tap at the Henson in Marrickville. Have picked up a couple of growlers from the brewery previously, but price wise I think they’re a little off the mark. Hipsters profit margin I guess.

Re-rate - a bottle bottled on 04 March 2015: a lot grassier hop character, lighter malt profile, grapefruit, still quite bitter. Very nice.

Tap @ The Henson Park Hotel. Orange/amber, thick off white head. Strong lacing. Grapefruit, stone fruit and biscuit aromas. Strong grapefruit flavours and good bitterness. Gentle stone fruit back notes and biscuit malts to balance the beer nicely and not let the bitterness get out of hand. Love drinking a locally brewed beer in a local pub. More of it please Sydney brewers/pubs.
