Cask; Special for Wetherspoons Spring 2014 International Real Ale Festival.

Edvard Hortemo has travelled to Batemans Brewery, in Lincolnshire, to brew this beer especially for this Wetherspoon real-ale festival (the second time we have hosted this brewery). This beer is its interpretation of a deep brown English ale, in which classic English malt varieties provide a rich backbone to the flavour, complemented by a spicy, peppery note from the blend of New World and English hop varieties.
Hops used: Bobek, East Kent Goldings

Toasted bread flavours, with notes of chewy malt and orange. Finish was light grassy hop, toffee and burnt malt. One of the better beers from this JDW fest.

1/3rd pint at ’spoons, Gateshead. Not much aroma. Treacle toffee flavour, red fruit, muscavado. Chewy texture, bitter finish. More a dark bitter than a Brown Ale?
