Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. Gold with a small white head. Rather rough aroma. restrained citric taste with a little grainy backing. Yes, this is a bit watery, but the combination of flavours worked well for me. A beer that is better than the sum of its parts.

Cask conditioned - handpump - OGs Wellingborough. I remember when this range of beers were first brewed in the 1990s I had eleven of the twelve and thought they were all pretty poor and that Batemans could do better. I have avoided them this time for that very reason, but pushed for a raitng today I ordered a half. It’s how I remember them; bland and watery. It’s thin and ordinary. Hints of unripe fruit and lacking hops. Dull.
