Cask at Charlie’s Bar, Copenhagen. An amber beer with a thin orange head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel and flowers, and some odd spicy, soapy note. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel and toffee as well as a lighter estery fruity note, leading to a dry nutty finish.

Small coarseish beige head. Muddy opaque brown body. Faint chocolate and flowers aroma. Dry-sweetish grainy caramelly taste with fruity notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, faintly astringent mouthfeel. Dryish herbal floral wooden aftertaste with very distinct raspberry notes, strangely. Spicy bitter taste lingers. Very nice, but a bit bland. Turned out to be muddy because it was the bottom of the cask. (0.25l cask, The Speaker, Westminster, London.)

Cask handpull, The Anchor, Bur-bar-zhuh. Fresh and a bit too cold; dark ruby slicked with beige. Funnily enough, smells of eggs: Burton, or Burtonised. Hints of cherry, hay, biscuit as it warms. Still, mineral soft, sulphurous and insipid with barely any flavour at all; hint of cream, one almond and a strand of hay crushed in a pint of imperceptibly salted water. The sort of beer horses would drink.

Cask, the Gunmakers. Copper color, easy drinking and pleasant enough beer, but nothing special. I didn’t catch much chocolate flavour, but that might be me.

Draft at The Ship in Whitstable High Street. Copper brown in colour with a malty nose. Lots of toasty malt flavour and a pleasant bitter finish. Didn’t get much chocolate at all, so apparantly missed most of the point of this beer.....
