2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 imdownthepub (7461) - Banbury, - OCT 28, 2009
Cask conditioned at a Wetherspoons. Amber to copper with white head. A dryish, light bitter, with a thin malty character. Slightly tinny, slightly sharp fruitish, Cranberries came to miind. Somewhat dull, but drinkable.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 tombyars (1102) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - OCT 5, 2011
Tasted this in The Esquires House, Glasgow (JDW) in November 2009. Cask, handpump dispense. Poor malt component in the quick aroma. Thin watery mouthfeel but good lacing. Pale malts give a weak digestive teabiscuit note with hedgerow berry sweetness. Distinct spicy hops liven up the aftertaste with bitter resins and hard water salts. Bitter sweet finish is uninspired. Nothing spectacular.
1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20 cgarvieuk (8636) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - FEB 1, 2010
Cask at JDW ... amber ... unpleasant lemon sour nose ... sour zezty lemon ... light hop ... pretty much like the lady herself and totaly unpalatable.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 KnutAlbert (4587) - Oslo, NORWAY - DEC 16, 2009
Cask in London.
I’d expected something stronger when they nemed a beer after Baroness Thatcher, but it’s a noce session bitter. Malty body, peaches, piney finish, a hint of sourness.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 DJMonarch (9152) - Northwich, Cheshire, ENGLAND - NOV 24, 2009
Cask Handpump at the Penny Black JDW, Northwich 31/10/2009
Floral hop aroma. Small white head. Golden coloured smooth on the palate and hoppy with a little bitterness in a crisp dry and slightly pale malt finish.
2.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 bobinlondon (1179) - Harrow, Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 15, 2009
Handpulled cask at JDW Stanmore. Amber with a white head. Very predictable Bateman’s house characturistics (yawn)! Next please.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 hughie (3992) - Bedford, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - NOV 14, 2009
Cask at Bankers Draft (JDW), Bedford, in ’Spoons BF ’09. Coppery gold with a thin white head. Familiar fruity aroma, but what exactly is it? Blackcurrant? Marshmallow? Sweet fruit gum taste with a spicy hint and some lemon. Mid bitter finish. Rather good, interesting beer.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 kwik-lime (647) - London, ENGLAND - NOV 8, 2009
Grassy with a dry bitterness, a fairly bland ale and I can’t say I noticed much of the advertised fruitiness. The pump comes complete with a picture of Margaret Thatcher, for which I should really give it 1/5 for appearance.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 altonbrownd (3577) - Brussels, BELGIUM - NOV 7, 2009
Cask at JDW, Heathrow, Term 4. Amber body with medium head. Some citrus in the nose. Some fruit flavours and malts in evidence. Citrus in the finish.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 gary07734 (500) - Tyne & Wear, ENGLAND - NOV 7, 2009
Wehey I’m the tenth rater... Dark amber cask pint at JDW Newcastle, drinks sweet and herbal, a nice pine & resin like edge, particularly in the moderately bitter finish. Decent stuff.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 welshboy (1) - WALES - NOV 6, 2009 does not count
Not bad at all, good flavour, though a little sharp, maybe served too well chilled at wetherspoons.
