Cask conditioned @ Lion Inn, Theberton (Suffolk), where I was camping for a week. Aug 05. Nutty malt and fruit. Quite good considering I dont normally like these flavours as much.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 DonMagi (5599) - bantervile, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - AUG 3, 2009
Cask in the alfread herring. Alround rating: Caramel and toffee malts, minerally lightly appleyness, small grassy and peppery hop. Its a typical batemans beer.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 MesandSim (7109) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 13, 2009
A Mes rate: cask at Baker St ’Sporks. Attractive copper colour with a thin off white head. Strangely floral on the nose with some lightly sweet malt underneath. Medicinal, very sweet bready malt flavour with some strong earthy and peaty notes. Big hit of vanilla with some very late dull bitterness. Poor effort as usual from Batemans.
2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 hughie (3992) - Bedford, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - JUL 12, 2009
Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. Amber with a small white head. Faint malt aroma. Sweet malty taste with some sourness and late bitterness. Straightforward and quite good.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 tarjei (1949) - Bryne, NORWAY - JUL 2, 2008
1/2 pint cask at Pivo Cafe Bar, York. Hazy brown color, nice white off-white/beige head. Aroma is malt and fruit/citric. Flavor is malty with hints of dried/dark fruit. No carbonation.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 berkshirejohn (3014) - Bracknell, Berkshire, ENGLAND - JUN 18, 2008
Cask at the Babington Arms (JDW), Derby. Gold with a creamy cream head; the aroma is grainy and bready; smooth and creamy, dry and velvety but lacking any real flavour, and with a gently bitter finish. Tastes more like a nitro-keg than a real ale.
2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 maeib (6618) - Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - JUN 15, 2008
Cask conditioned - handpump - Malt Shovel, Northampton. An amber coloured beer with an off-white head. This is a farly boring fruity, twiggy beer, which lacks character or taste. Sadly all Batemans specials or monthlys seem to be boring and lack stand out flavours. Their core stuff is good, so why do they not put more attention into the specials?
2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 TheGrandMaster (2313) - Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - AUG 29, 2005
Pimt pulled at The Greyhound in Warslow (Peak District), an amber brown with a medium-sized head. A malty aroma, also reflected in the malty taste, disappointingly a little carbonated.
