2.3 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 justm (163) - Essex, ENGLAND - JAN 3, 2012
Cask at the Coach & Horses, Billericay. Pours a lovely amber with a thin but sustained off-white head. Good lacing down the glass. Aroma is slightly malty and a faint burnt sugar smell. Palate is medium bitter, with a little buttery-ness. Taste is faint caramel malt, quite watery with a rubber aftertaste which is a little unpleasant. Quite a bland session bitter, not sure what makes it festive other than the pump clip!

’Celebrating the Christmas Season’ it says, and in true Bateman’s style, this involves a picture of a plump lady showing her bottom. Fnarr. I preferred the simpler more innocent days of the Signs of the Zodiac series. Amber with a white head. Sweet butterscotch malt aroma. Big oily malt taste with bread and sweetness. Mid bitter finish. Nearly there.
