COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask: Special - 2003 & 2004 (Calendar Girls series).
A hoppy rather than a bitter beer with a citrus overtone and dry hop character. Back by popular demand, Miss Luscious, the winner of the Calendar Girl Beauty Pageant. This delightful blonde has a lovely head and ample body.

1. Cask Stillage at St Phillips Social Club, Sheffield 04/10/2003 Golden coloured and slightly hazy appearance. Sour fruit flavour and some dryness in the malt finish. 2. Cask Handpump at the Lass O’ Gowrie, Manchester 14/05/2004 Golden colour with sour fruit flavours. Some spice aroma. Slightly bitter crisp dry finish.

Had this in the Saltcot, Salcoats (JDW) in May 2004. Cask, handpump dispense. Crystal clear pale amber in colour with a thin creamy white head. Spiced apple in the short aroma. Thin mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malts base gives gooseberry fruit, lychees and honey notes. Bitter hop resins give a dry floral note to the short aftertaste. Finish is bitter sweet with hints of golden syrup and grapefruit. An ok session golden ale for the summer months. Interesting pump clip, reminded me of holiday postcards from yesteryear.

Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. Well, I should say the 2009 incarnation of this Batemans favourite is more amber than blonde. White head. The faintest of aromas: treacle or sweat? Sour taste at first, but delivering a beautiful wheaty breadiness before the mid bitter finish. I enjoyed this a lot, despite the pumpclip image, which is rather saucy for a staid, long established regional brewery.

Wonderful toffees! Orange to brownish colour and an interesting haziness with almost no head. Lovely hoppiness and sweet caramelly softness. Cask conditioned.

[Cask at Charlie’s Bar, Copenhagen] A hazy orange beer with a small white head. The aroma is slightly fruity. The flavor contains a lot of lemon and is therefore quite sour, but very pleasant and very fresh. The end is quite dry and has an OK hoppy bitterness, but the body is a little thin.

Pale golden colour. Some malt in the aroma, and a reasonable balance of malt and hops on the palate. Bittersweet finish. Not bad, but, overall, a little sweet for a beer of this style for me. Cask (handpump), Bateman’s Visitor Centre.

JDW Rochester. This is the day after the Spring beer festival and my local JDW has more beers on today than they had during the festival! Anyway, this beer is in ideal condition. Initially impresses - quenches the thirst and is almost gone in a couple of gulps. Packs plenty of crisp, floral citric flavour. But the malt is a little sticky and clings unpleasantly to the mouth. Some honey and apple notes come through. A very decent blond - too nice to have just as a Spring seasonal.

Blonde in colour with a dense head. Aromas are fruity, sour and floral. Flavours are fruity malts with some sourness and a dry finish. Not bad at all.

Cask Conditioned at The White Horse, Wroxton. Yellow blonde beer with chunky blonde head. This is a dry, hoppy, tangy beer with a big aromatic nose. Sweetness through the hops that doesn't affect the dryness on the tongue. Easy drinking, tasty, and light.
