Cask conditioned at a Wetherspoons. Pale gold with no head. Tart and relatively sweet with a metallic edge, really getting towards poor. Disappointing.

Cask, the Francis Newton, Sheffield. Fruit and cinnamon aroma. Slightly sour with a musty finish.

Cask, William Wygston, Wigston. Golden with an off-white foam. Aromas are melon and lemon with earthy hops and butter. Peppery with hints of creamy oak. Flavours are dry, earthy hops with low biscuit malts and yeast. Thin lemon with soda water. Some honey sweetness. Fruity and rhin on the finish. Not great but for a good cause. Buy it.

Cask handpull, The Larry (JDW), Nuneaton, 16/07/11. Bronze-gold with a chunky white top. Half decent hay, almond, slight grassy aroma. Slithery Battenberg feel; vanilla, almond, some custard and corn snack. Sweet but with discreet underlying hops, albeit the meek grassy kind. Pretty good for Bateman’s- first time I’ve ever drank 2 consecutive pints of one of their beers.

On cask at JDW, Stone. Pours amber with a white head. Some earthy flavours, dry finish. An average amber ale.
