Poured into a snifter. 3.5 A: Ruddy amber plum color. One and a half fingers of foamy off-white head. Retention was lacking, but a decent amount of lacing was left behind. 3.5 S: Malt heavy featuring caramel, toffee, and raisin and plum fruitiness. A few doses of mineral as well. Breadiness from the yeast. Quite earthy without much of a hop presence. 3.5 T: Bready foremost with caramel, light toffee, plum and raisin fruitiness and possibly some dates. Again a good bit of mineral. Yeasty. 3.5 M: Medium body. Mellow carbonation, but appropriate. Lightly creamy. 3.5 D: Decent beer, but not very exciting overall. April 2007: Brown 500ml bottle. Poured into a Gordon’s thistle glass (twice). Looks a picture, clear, dark terracota with a fine slightly off-white head. Aroma is sweet and Christmas pudding smelling, caramel and cinnamon come to mind. Tastes of hops and malted biscuits, fairly bitter, but the fruitiness in the aroma tempers the flavour to produce a very good beer. The mixture of flavours stay in the mouth, 4.9% isn’t heavy, the mouthfeel reflects that. All in all, a very good beer. I had three pints of this beer with my Christmas dinner in 2006, I don’t choose any old beer to have on that day!

Mid orange brown coloured beer with a thin off white coloured head. Sweet roasted malt aroma, some fruity hop elements. Bittersweet in the mouth, dry, roast malt flavour, some bittersweet caramel and chocolate notes. Bitter in the finish.

Shared with Strykzone via Facebook Chat. It poured red amber color with a tan head and moderate lacing. Nose of caramel malts and floral hops. Medium in body. Smooth clean mouthfeel. Flavor malty with good hop flavors and some ripe, fig like fruit. . Little spice in the finish. Very tasty.

Pint bottle from Hayduke. We had it together in a facebook chat session. This poured clear and something between tea and amber. It had a beige head that did not last long. The nose was sweet and malty with a bit of spice. The first sip indicated a nicely hopped beer. It has plenty of sweet malts and light spice along with soft fruit. A dash of yeast. The finish brought more fruit and richer malt as the hops faded a bit. It is brings a light prickly sensation to the tongue. An enjoyable beer and a good session beer.

[Bottle that Dad shared with me - cheers!] Deep amber, moderate white head, moderate fizz is a little too lively for the style. Caramel is most dominant, but there’s some vanilla, wood and a slightly dry, dusty bitterness. OK, better than most Bateman’s beers.

FROTHINGSLOSH (3381) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 10, 2012
Sampled from a 16.9 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark orange-caramel color with a small soapy tan head that faded and left no lacing. The aroma was faint fig, cherry and caramel. The flavor was bitter and tart with an off sour caramel presence and notes of butterscotch, vague fruits and had a faint medicinal undertone. The finish was long and bitter with butterscotch and sour caramel and turned astringent. Light to medium body. Not impressed.

500ml bottle. Light chestnut colour with nothing on the head to write about. Very mild on the nose, but after a bit of work can get some biscuity malt tones and a little spice which fades. Biscuity tastes, with a hint of fruit. The carbonation helps this one - as the burps actually taste better than the drink! Decent enough bitterness, and warmish on the palate... but not really getting "Christmas" from this. Nothing stunning, nothing unpleasant. Average.
