3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Yeasty, with light fruit. Very thin in mouthfeel, but that's what would be expected of this style of English ale. Altogether, a tasty ale for the holiday season - no bells & whistles, just a good, round ale.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Clear copper-coloured beer with a good foamy head. Aroma is spicy caramel. Flavour is initially malt and caramel but there’s a nice citrus-y, fruity follow-up to that and even a tinge of hoppy bitterness as it settles on the tongue. It’s not really what I think of when I think of a Christmassy beer but, despite a slightly watery finish, it’s really rather drinkable.

Bottle from backlog notes. Pours a clear deep amber color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have sweet caramel, lightly nutty, noticeable Maris Otter character, hints of fruit and a splash of general hop character, not much to get excited about.

Murky, caramel colors. Sweet nose, moderate palate somewhat oily. English, to be sure. (at Ale Jail Anniversary Party 2014)

A Christmas present from 2012, consumed Christmas Eve 2013, BBE 31 October 2013. I’m not sure when it was 5% or an Old Ale, to me an ordinary 4.7% English bitter with an unbalanced hop melee. Nothing memorable here, just another beer living on past glories.
