From BA: May 2006. Long time fan of this beer, but never reviewed it until now for some reason. The review is from a tasting at the bi-annual beer festival at the Bateman’s brewery. They put on 5 cask beers of their own and have another 15 barrels from small brewers also available to drink. Hand-pulled in the base of their famous windmill, my pint glass looked beautiful, a light amber, golden beer, this was clear and had a good off-white head sat on top. The Styrian and Challenger hops give it a good hoppy aroma and the taste is crisp, sharp and refreashing. The flavours stay in the mouth, with bitterness coming through towards the end. A great beer, from a good brewery.

Warning! Early amateur rating! On tap at the Sun Inn, Kelvedon. Reminds of Oakham JHB - fruity and zesty. Light palate. Not that bitter. Nice.

Hazy golden color. Light aroma, hoppy, a bit citrusy and grassy. Malt flavor; the mouthfeel is dry, also because of the very strong bitterness; the hops are a bit citrusy and resiny and grassy. Pleasant, even if not very complex.

Handpulled cask at the Tally Ho (JDW) Finchley. Poured nicely with no sparkler, clearing slowly to give a dense white head. Quite sweet with a subtle citric hop characture and a dry bitter finish. A good fefreshing bitter.

Cask in the state bar. Aroma is slightly rubbery sulphurus note. Taste is more of a chemically plastic note, no hops quite sweet, bad nick and a bad beer to start with it seems.

From cask at Charlies. Pours clear and golden orange with a lacing white head. Vague hoppy and mild malty aroma. Flavour holds a solid bitterness. Light fruity note dominantly bitterhops. Ends with a mild fruity sweetness.
