beaconstreet (810), Washington DC, USA May 8, 2005 Cask at The Shakespeare’s Head, Holborn, London. Made especially for the VE Day anniversary celebrations currently swirling around the city here. A mighty pint to raise in celebration of that generation before us. Great photo of Churchill giving the ’V’ sign on the tap label. Tastes like a sweet, milk-like, light cream kind of taste. Strong, hard to blend well with food. Good for celebrating, and for its peculiar palate.

Amber mid brown coloured. Some sour fruit flavour and spicy aroma. Slightly bitter lasting malt finish. kook (2035), Perth, Western Australia, Australia May 17, 2005 Cask @ Crosse Keys: Poured copper with a beige decent head. Nice lacework too. Lacks aroma, mildly fruity. Flavour is a balance of fresh fruits, toffee and a long bitter hoppy finish. Medium silky mouthfeel. Nice session bitter. Pub (4119), Banbury, Oxfordshire, England May 14, 2005 Cask Conditioned at a JDW. Darkish amber with white soapy head. Smooth and appealing beer, soft autumn fruitiness counteracted with an overlaid citric hoppiness. Easy going fresh malt flavours complete a well produced bitter. Pretty good. chris_o (4409), London, Greater London, England May 10, 2005 Very appealing rich copper coloured appearance. Warm fruity aroma, with restrained hops in the background. Dry and quite malty on the palate, but there’s plenty of juicy, plummy fruit there too., with a fair amount of bitterness coming through late to provide some grip. Impeccable balance. A nice beer. Cask (handpump), Penderels Oak (JDW), Holborn, London.
Magic_dave6 (4012), London, Greater London, England May 9, 2005 Excellent aroma and apperance, however the flavour was a big disapointment.
Roasted malt flavour, but that seemed about it. Reminded me of bottled hobgoblin, which wasnt a plesant experiance.
