3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bouteille 50cl, curieusement passée de date, BB 06/10/2010, thank to my neigbhors.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
0.5 bottle. Amber color, nearly no head, clear. The aroma is malt-driven with a lot of fruity notes, mostly apricot and some apple cider and a touch of dough. The flavor is malty too but does not lack hop attitude either, again some fruits and a lot of biscuit. Medium body, slick texture and below average carbonation. Finish is mostly composed of malts and biscuits but it retains this uncanny apricot fruitiness. Overall it is a good brew but needs some stronger character, definitely tasty and drinkable.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This was a good day for me as I was able to sample two from Bateman’s in the one sitting. IT is a sample of my heritage and for that I love this beer. Slightly clearer colour than the XXXB but still a lustrous coppery amber. The head was whitish grey and dissipated in the glass in short order. Aromas were peachy apricot, malt-driven rather than hop driven but generous for it.
In terms of flavour, it was not as biscuity or sweet as its above brother ale, however it wasn’t shy. A good slurp revealed nectarine, peach and apricot with a slight acidic character which was by no means unpleasant, quite the opposite. A delightful ale and another one for the Albion wishlist.
