imdownthepub (10297) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - FEB 1, 2008
Bottled, pasteurised, 500ml, aged 2.5yrs. Chestnut with beige head. Big, full, malty bitter with a sweetish malt body, quite winey, full of fleshy fruit flavours. There is a warming alcohol note going on adding some depth to the beer along with a toffee caramel silkiness. It lacks bite on the finish, the aging has hidden any individual hop notes, but all in all a pretty decent beer.

Maria (10158) - Thisted, DENMARK - MAY 1, 2007
Copper red with a huge, creamy and lasting head. The aroma has notes of caramel and aroma hops. The mouth feel is rather oily. The flavour is malty with notes of aroma hops, caramel, light sweetness, nuts and the finish has a delicious, almost barley wine like vinousity with a light bitterness. A really nice one.

Sweet caramel malty aroma. Tingly carbonation. Bananaey taste, but also some sweaty horse-blanket and biting hops. Brown mushrooms too. A bit dead, and leaves me uninspired.

Bottle: Clear, copper coloured, bigger, very stable off-white head; moderate to solid sweetish spicy-fruity nose (dried fruits with a touch of cinnamon); dryish moderate bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied, quite soft; lemony-orangey aromas in the bitter-sweet dark-malty finish. A goody.....

Bottled. A light amber coloured beer. The aroma is predominantly malty, and there is some caramel noted. The taste is malty too and a tad sweet. The alcohol does come through also. Not bad but lacking in real character.
