"A full flavored Pale Ale, having a predominantly fruity palate with malt overtones, a subtle hop character gives this Pale Ale a delicate overall palate, making a very drinkable beer."

UPDATED: JUL 10, 2005 Bottle, from Sainsburys. Copper bronze, moderate but shortlived white head and good condition. Sticky sweet toffee and butter in the nose with some background earthy hops. Chewy maltiness in the mouth with more toffee notes and a subdued sweetness. Some noticable hop resin lingering in the finish, although the malt retains the upper hand.

Aug 2006, from BA: My bottles came from Morrison’s supermarket in Wellington, Shropshire (4 pint bottles for £5.00). All Bateman’s beers seem to grow on you as you drink more of them, this is no different, one bottle does not do it justice, to really get the feel, a second pint must be downed. Fairly light in colour, a tawny brown, with a good white head, depending on how you pour it. Fruity aroma and taste, with hops coming through, if the beer is not too cool. Remmebr, this should be kept in the garage, not the fridge. Overall, a good, steady, rather than outstanding Bateman’s beer.

(bottle) Clear, amber colour with a medium-sized and slightly tanned foamy head. Slightly buttery cara-malty aroma with slightly woody and subtle fruity hops. Moderately bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a modest carbonation. Dry malty base with notes of caramel, ginger spice and woody and herbal hops; dry and moderately bitter finish with balanced notes of cara-malt and mainly herbal hops, accompanied by fruity undertones. Nice one. 08.IV.12

Bottled 50cl. Nice lacework. Buttery, malty with a poor hop presence. Hints of raisins throughout. Drinkable okay but I didn’t enjoy this beer.

bottle pours mid brown with beige head that goes away . aroma is muted but some malt and caramel present . taste is malt , fruity with hop bitterness coming through . I feel it is over carbonated that prevents tastes emerging . quite watery for 6% abv . ok

Mörkt bärnstensfärgad med lätt vitt skum. Fruktig maltsötma, en aning smörkola. Mörkt bröd och smörkola i smaken och en aning av torkad frukt. En trevlig beska som avslutning.

50cl bottle. Pours a clear coca cola like liquid with very bubbly but small head. Nose : aromas of roasted bread and little toffee. Some little cheese notes. Little whysky background. Sip : Low density with little oily texture. Low carbonation. Medium sweet with roasted bread aromas that develops unusualy strong taste of marmite. Now that I smell it again , it was marmite smell that makes it a bit funky. Overall it’s a funny discovery , I’m not used to british ales. Might drink it again sometime.
