Cask conditioned Handpump King Billy Northampton. A copper coloured beer with a whitish head and lace. Good depth of flavour in this. Mostly sweet with light fruits with house yeast, but the hops really work within a beer of this fruity strength. The odd wheaty note. Pretty deep and quite lovely. Great alcohol. A rare Batemans beauty.

On cask at the Counting House in Glasgow. Pours a dark golden colour with a thin beige head. A big caramel aroma gives way to toffee, treacle and honeycomb. Honeycomb flavour also with caramel and toffee apples. A nice maple syrup linger. A little oily mouth-feel and low carbonation. OK.

Tasted this in The Esquire House, Glasgow, (JDW) in October 2004. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear red amber in colour with a thin white head. Sweet note of golden syrup in the short aroma. Thin mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malts give a fruity apple crumble base with golden syrup evident. Good smack of dry hops impart a very dry aftertaste. Finish is quite dry and warming with oak flavours present. Powerful ESB style bitter that should be treated with caution as the og belies an easy uptake during a session!

Cask. Slightly hazy amber golden with a rough off-white head leaving a discreet lacework. Sweet, fruity nose with a vague vinegar touch without being really tart though. Quite full-bodied, very low carbonation, caramel notes, balsamico, a fusty touch and a dry and hoppy finish with a light tartness that comes slowly creeping. This better run fast or the last customers will get a sour beer. 210511
