3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle thanks to Erik. Pours a clear, dark amber with a small, off white head. Aroma has caramel, toasted malts, old hops, slight dark fruits. Taste is sweet, boozy with a slight metallic tartness. Low carbonation and an oily body. Fine but boring.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Kris Wines, London. Pours a hazy amber-hued orange body with a small off-white head. Nose is caramel, almonds, biscuits, red fruits and hints of vanilla and toffee. Taste is caramel, sherry, red fruits, toffee, alcohol and hints of toast, burnt sugar and mild herbs. Medium to full body, medium carbonation. Pretty decent. Seems a bit oxidized, but works pretty good.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
2013-tapning.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle, gift from Mum & Dad- cheers! Red with a moderate cream head and a light fizz. Warming and fruity up front, then a lot of straw in the dry finish. OK, but lacks depth- not a patch on the Fullers ones.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tasted in excellent company. Nutty caramel colours with a thick collar of white head. Surprisingly bright mahogany. The aroma here is an absolute star - nuts, strawberries... malt and yeast are the stars and this beer does well for its complexity. There’s sweetness and banana prevalent and this translates into flavour. What a treat. It’s got beautiful length and character and drinks like a young beer, considering it has two years on the clock.
Probably a truly memorable representative of the Bateman’s character., it drinks quite freshly for a 2013 vintage that has done well for being well looked after.
