Some floral aroma. White head. Golden coloured hoppy and floral with a hint of dryness in a bitter and slightly spicy wheat finish.

(Cask at Penderel’s Oak JDW, Holborn, London, 24 Nov 2010) Copper colour with brief, white head. Fruity, citric nose with notes of citrus, grass and wheat. Fruity taste with citrus, canned peaches, a slightly sourish wheat character and a light, grassy bitterness. Medium body, with balanced sweetness. A bit on the citric side, but decent.

3rd Novemeber 2010 Spoons Fest! Bright clear gold beer with a ghost of a head. Light palatem, low carbonation. A little citrus fruit in the background to some light wheaty malt. A little bit of sulphur lurking around. Finishes quite fruity. Not bad - good do with more wheat zing!

JDW Autumn Fest 2010 - Rochester. Pale yellow. Fairly neutral in most respects. Quite drinkable. Laid back malt with some noble hops. Lager like, but OK.

Cask, handpump at The Babbington, JDW, Derby, Derbyshire 06.11.10 This poured gold, touch sweet in fact a bit like a sweet shop aroma, good clarity with a white head. This is a touch ordinary but fine. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov12 3.1

Cask conditioned at a Wetherspoons. Gold with white head. Sweetish understated perfumey beer, not very much going on, it’s a job to find the wheat flavours, but perhaps that’s not surprising. A little dull.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 wheresthepath (1285) - Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - NOV 5, 2010
[Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading] Pale amber, moderate white head. Nothing really wheaty about this - it tastes like a traditional British bitter. A bit of biscuit, a hint of citrus. Unusually for Bateman’s, there’s a reasonable amount of hop bitterness in there. OK session ale.

Cask Conditioned Handpump Cordwainer Northampton. A clear orange coloured beer with a tiny off-white ring of head. A typically dull Batemans occasional beer. This time it’s wheatier than usual but I guess that’s pretty much Intended! Really bog standard stuff.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 DruncanVeasey (6116) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Premier, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - NOV 4, 2010
The High Cross, Leicester. Brass with a narrow white foam. Hay and caramel aroma. That house, aniseedy, Werthers boiled sweet character dominating with plenty of almond....and a creamy marshmallow note I’m enjoying, despite myself. Some apple pastry and cream. No hops as usual, but the wheat actually adds something to that syrupy, almond confectionery character here. Unmistakably Batemans, but better.
