Shakespeares Head Spoons. Cask. Almost clear deep amber beer. Residual pale cream colour head. Palate is smooth and semi dry. Very modest carbonation. Light tangy malts, trace of toffee. Little dried fruits. Light semi dry finish. Okay.

Cask @ Manchester & County, Manchester. Copper-amber with a thin head. Has lots of sweet malts, so much so it’s fairly sticky in the palate and a touch tangy. Not that exciting.

Cask at The Moon Under Water Watford. Hazed copper coloured pour with a fleeting greyish loose head. Aroma is salty disk water, stale malts and sour apples. Infected me thinks. Flavour is acetone, touch of vinegar, tart granny smith apple, some stale toffee malts. Palate has moderately high tingling carbonation. Very disappointed.

Cask at the Kings Tun JDW, deep brown with a fine off-white head and a malty, slightly woody nose. Body has a classic nutty, ever so faintly tart and ’aged’ feel to it. Lovely.

UPDATED: MAY 31, 2014 Cask in The Vine Market Deeping. Deep brown colour, with Creamy off-white head. Fruity aroma, Flavour is bitter and dry. A really good English bitter. More recently tried at the brewery and I wasn’t disappointed.

Cask at the White Swan, Solihull. Poured a crystal clear medium amber with a frothy white head and lots of broken lace. The aroma is stale malt and weak hop. The flavour is medium bitter with a watery hop bitter palate. Medium to full bodied with flat carbonation. A nice smooth creamy session bitter.

(Cask): Clear amber with an off white head. Aroma of sweet malt, tart fruit, caramel. Similar notes in tasting. Very sweet, overly so. Struggled to finish a pint due to it being so sickly sweet.

Cask @ Babelas, Leicester. Chestnut colour, largish off white head. Slight floral hop aroma. Taste is malty, roasty. Look it's fine OK, honestly, FINE. I'd drink it all night but only if there wasn't anything better/more intersting around. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
