3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 BlackHaddock (2367) - Shropshire, - NOV 12, 2012Hand-pulled pint with my Sunday lunch @ Batemans brewery on 11 Nov 2012.
True golden colour, almost lager like in appearance: complete with a white head that wouldn’t hang around.
Hops rule the nose and taste throughout the brew: more resinous than citrus to me, notes of grass in the mix too. The malts don’t show a great deal but this isn’t just a hoppy brew, there is a mildly malty, biscuity semi-sweetness within the flavours before the dry, bitterish finish arrives.
The body depth wasn’t as heavy as I’d like, but with lager malts being the choosen none hop ingrediant I shouldn’t be surprised really. I suppose it was fine for the style of the beer.

Cask at The Masons Arms, Solihull. Poured a crystal clear light straw colour with a thick white frothy head. The aroma is fresh, organic and the Cascade & Chinook stand out. The flavour is medium bitter, hugely grassy, hoppy and very refreshing. An ideal summer pale ale and very different. Track it down if you can!

Half pint, cask by handpump at Waggon & Horses. Faint white head over a clear golden body. Semi-dry leafy hop aroma. The taste profile is made up by pale malts and semi-dry, citrus fruits. Fresh bittering hops to the ending. Refreshing and easy to quaff (York, 26.01.2013)
