3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 BeerViking (1457) - Lüneburg, Lower Saxony, GERMANY - APR 18, 2013
Bottle, pours a deep dark brownish red with a lasting mid fine beige head, chocolatey malt on the nose plus a faint hint of something vegetal. The body starts rich and malty with touches of toffee and toast, yet not sweet. A drying bitter note is accompanied by hints of honey and dark chocolate, and lasts into the after taste. Excellent - like a cross between an English bitter and a Munich Dunkel.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 McZythos (31) - Nancy, FRANCE - MAR 22, 2013
It smells coffee and chocolate which are the signature of English bitters, but it is once you wet your whistle that you subtly savour the taste of chacolate malts interlaced with hops both bitter and slightly acid. This beer is in no way aggressive even though it’s a bitter. Incredibly light, I could drink several of those bitter. Even if the taste is a very decent taste, I think the taste isn’t pointed out enough, and the final taste, which is superb, is too short.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 varanid99 (255) - AUSTRALIA - MAR 6, 2013
Dark, red brown pour with thin head. Aroma is chocolate, sweet "chico" follies (like chocolate jelly babies if you have had those. Taste is the same sweet chocolate, bitter, caramel
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 JKaranka (28) - Cardiff, WALES - FEB 26, 2013
Good session beer. Ruby coloured, with a good consistency in the mouth. Nice head. Fruity aroma with some roast. The taste is more sweet than roasty, with a strong maltiness that goes hand in hand with the dark colour of the brew. It is a bit like a pint of bitter with a malt bill that is half way of being a porter. Of course, the bitterness of the hops, which leave a fruity mouth feel, is more forthcoming than a porter.

500ml bottle. Looks blsck when poured but has a dark red hue. Chocolate milk aroma. Nice. Tastes of chocolate, bitter-ish coffee and dark red fruits. Decent mouthfeel if a little watery. Nice wee surprise this one.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Otterdance (47) - - FEB 13, 2013
Trafford Arms Beerfest. Murky brown with a broken off white head. Tastes like watery chocolate with hints of dried fruits. Light, thin and lacking much to recommend. Disappointing from a quality brewery.
