COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask: Unfiltered; Bottle: Filtered.
A roasted barley aroma, a deep, dark colour and a smooth-yet-dry taste: all the hallmarks of an exquisite stout. We brew Dark Hare using a blend of dark roasted malts and an old fashioned (and rather famous) English hop called Fuggles. These fine ingredients, together with our brewers’ skill and diligence, have made this an impressive and seriously smooth stout. Made with wheat and barley malt.

Bottle at home ... Deep black ... fruity malt ... some blackcurrent ... very smokey lots of roast malts ... chocolat builds but over fizzy.

sayravai (4548) - Helsinki, FINLAND - DEC 3, 2007
(Bottled) Very dark cola-brown with a lemonadey, quickly and completely fading head. The aroma is sweetish, rye-puddingy and roasty malt with some licorice hints. Roasted-malty, slightly sour, earthy and salty-licoricey flavor with medium bitterness, some dark fruitiness, and a dry-ashy, mildly bitter finish. Light to medium-bodied, medium-carbonated palate. Smooth and roasty, but not that interesting - even as a session beer.

johninmelb (748) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - NOV 30, 2007
Burnt treacle notes on the nose with some slight sour berry. Pours, well, like a stout really. Flavour is suprisingly rich and satisfying for a lesser alcohol stout - notes of sherried fig and cinnamon sticks with a rich and dry finish. Not bad.

imdownthepub (7461) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - NOV 24, 2007
Cask conditioned at The Woolpack, Banbury. Black with red hue, cream head. Lovely richly roasted flavours with fruits, raisins and forest berryies with quite a sweetish note in the body, perhaps more Mild than Stout but loses nothing in the drinking. A touch smoky with a burnt finish, lovely moorish beer for the ABV.

500ml bottle (Porvoo Harvest/Dark Beer Festival 2007) Near black, thin tight head. sweet dark berry, cranberry or raisin, aroma. rich burnt malt taste, dry and bitter. slightly watery but that clears the palate for the simple long burnt finish. great for 4%.

Bottle. Near black with a slight hint of red and minimal head. The aroma was primarily roasty with some dark chocolate. The flavour was again largely roasted, almost charred, with an almost savoury finish. Mouth feel was smooth with a slight oiliness. Not bad.
