COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask: Unfiltered; Bottle: Filtered.
A roasted barley aroma, a deep, dark colour and a smooth-yet-dry taste: all the hallmarks of an exquisite stout. We brew Dark Hare using a blend of dark roasted malts and an old fashioned (and rather famous) English hop called Fuggles. These fine ingredients, together with our brewers’ skill and diligence, have made this an impressive and seriously smooth stout. Made with wheat and barley malt.

Bottle (in NZ), pours a dark reddy-brown with a foamy brown head. Just a light malty nose. The palate is roasty and dry, with lots of coffee flavour. The finish is creamy and smooth. Quite moreish.

Tasted in vertical with Bath Dark Side, this was worse
Looks a lot like cola drink with big-bubbled and disappearing head. Slightly sour aroma has toffee, goldings-like hops, coffee, some roastiness. Palate is too thin and a bit watery. Flavour is rather light with coffee, harsh roastiness and hints of toffee with goldings. Unlike Dark Side, this was too watery and light.

Dark blackin colour, offwhite head that quickly dissapated. Smooth fruity flavours with rasin/coffee hints. Nothing adventerous, just a great stout.

Medium beige head. Nearly opaque black body goes deep dark red at edges. Roasty grainy prunes aroma with soy sauce notes. Dry-sweetish earthy chocolatey taste is very mild. Soft, smooth mouthfeel. Mid-bodied. Dry roasty mineraly spicy aftertaste with earthy notes. Delicate and rather elegant. Very nice and highly drinkable. (0.5l bottle from BeerMerchants.)

500ml bottle. Poured a very dark brown with a quickly fading beige head. Buttery, toffee & roasted malt aromas. Toffee, diacetyl buttery-loaded again backed by a dry, powdery chocolate sweetness & roasted malt bitter finish. Light to medium body and medium carbonation with a dry, relatively short malty bitter end. Wouldn’t have had this down as a stout but it might’ve been due to the dominant butter character.

Clear dark brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, cold coffee, light toffee. Flavor is light heavy sweet and light to moderate bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20100806]

Very dark brown beer - just about clear. No real head. Nice dark ale - smooth, subtle toasty malt, subtle chocolate. A distinct nutty flavour and a little porterish tang. Not bitter or dry. Low carbonation but goes down easy.

Keg, Salamander. No head. Dark brown. Slightly liquoricey dark malt aroma. Liquoricey taste with milk chocolate and light toffeeish accents. A nice mild. Would benefit from being on cask.
